Delaying my 401k Rollover Deposit

I think what I'm doing is legit but then again, I'm no financial guru....

About 4 months ago, many months after acquiring a new job, I finally requested a 401k rollover from my previous' employer account to my current. To avoid taxes, the check is written to my employer's401k account and of course, I don't intend on cashing it.

Fast forward to today, I just realized that I never gave the check to my employer and the check still has 2 months before its invalid. If I had deposited this check on time, I probably would've lost $2,000 of it from the stock market drop this year. Would it make sence to hold back one more month before handing it in?
