hello,
while running some audio programs and experiencing latency problems, i adjusted performance under the advanced tab of computer properties for the best performance of "background services" and "system cache". upon rebooting i get a whole series of delayed write failed errors and am unable to log in to windows - the desktop art shows up and i am unable to do anything except manually turn pc off. is there some way i can undo these changes in the recovery console, so that i can at least rule them out as the cause of my problem?
hardware:
abit nf7-s
radeon 9800np
2 western digital hard drives , one on SATA the other on ATA (this is the boot drive)
windows xp sp1a, cat 4.4 drivers, latest nforce drivers i believe as well.
if someone could provide me with this info i would really appreciate it, thanks

I could see maybe some event id 2020s popping up but not delayed write failures. It's possible I suppose but pretty unlikely unless there is something seriously wrong with your mass storage drivers.

Watch your system log carefully for any events in the 50s range as well as 9 and 11s. You might have a controller acting up.

Don't ever enable "large system cache", if you are running Windows XP with an ATI AGP graphics card. You are asking for problems.

yea i didn't ever do that registry tweak, what i did was adjust memory perofrmance to favor the system cache rather than programs. i had done this a few times before , but not in a long while and i can't remember if i've done it since i got the radeon. i dont know if that was the problem. i am scared to try it again.
