Delay between POST and Windows loading

Until recently, my PC load windows immediately after the end of post (recognising HDD and CD-ROM) with a beep. And I'm sure other healthy computers do too.
But now, I think something has been messed up.
After recognising HDD and CD-ROM, there is time gap of 15 to 30seconds before I here a beep for the start of windows loading.
What is wrong with this thing? It hasn't done anything like this before.

Check to see whether your floppy drive is working. My comp does the same thing when I forget to plug in the floppy cable or the power to it. I'm guessing the system is looking for a bootdisk and it gives it alot of time
