Those two threads aren't even the worst of it, just the most recent, and it does seem to be getting worse than it used to be. To be fair, Senseamp did mention Apple in the Flash thread, but it was more of a lighthearted crack, it didn't start getting ugly until certain posters joined in.

I'm all for a good debate, and most of the posters in there are fine, but there are a couple of people that seem to take it too far, post things that don't really have to do with the thread, ignite flame wars, etc.

This is getting a bit out of hand. We can't have a single thread now without one of the usual suspects hijacking the thread. It really sucks that we can't have a civil discussion about ANYTHING without a troll popping his head in.

Yes it is usually the same person but this is more about the fact that we can't have a civil discussion without the thread getting hijacked. I don't go into the All Things Apple forum because I don't personally like Apple products. Is it right for the Apple fanbois to come into GG&P just to threadcrap?

Honestly, I started a thread about the Apple Macbook Pros hitting 101C in OT here and it got locked immediately. I figured it was neutral ground since the Apple Forum itself is really just a circle jerk session.

But I figured some consumers would want to know right? Would you want to know if you buy a Macbook Pro today with an i7, you would be buying a high powered stove?

The ATOT mods apparently want to keep that info to the hush hush.

ATOT is not "neutral ground" between PC and Apple - it's for OFF TOPIC discussions. Hint: "Off Topic" is in the name. A discussion about Apple Macbooks is ON TOPIC, therefore belongs in the appropriate forum. Hint: that forum's name says something about "All Things Apple." -Admin DrPizza

awwe....PM, I wasn't criticizing you. I wanted to get an open discussion about what is and isn't allowed in GG&P. I know some forums here openly condone thread crapping, is GG&P one of them? Or are people who do that free game for the same thing that happens to them in the other forums?

I've given up posting anything regarding BlackBerry in there as it usually ends in a pointless pissing contest or yet another clueless "OMG RIM is dying/OS update needed/crap browser" type response. Unless you hug nuts for Android or Apple it's not even worth entering into a discussion.

I didn't take it as negative criticism - it seemed like good feedback to me.

I want to do a good job as moderator, and I thought that I was doing a good job. I clean up spam quickly, I respond to users requests fairly quickly (like dguy6789's request for a sticky), and I am gnerally good at housekeeping tasks in the group. But I generally don't moderate posts unless they contain blatant personal attacks.

Maybe I have gone too much the other way... I'll think about it some more and I'll talk to the other moderators.

And you are doing a good job. There are just a couple people who I let get to me. I probably should have PM'd you instead of making this thread but I was irked.

I guess I got the answer I was looking for though. Blatant personal attacks are not allowed, neither is trolling. I just wanted to make sure since I am pretty new to that forum. (I stayed away from it when I actually sold phones )

I think you're doing a good job. The hard part is dealing with a forums attitude. This is pretty much impossible to moderate without bias, or the appearance of bias, in a highly polarized forum.

looked back through the threads in that forum, I thought it was more isolated but it seems "All about Apple" has leaked from its coffin all over that forum.

On a side note, we all know Apple is dead when Steve Jobs lie in his iCoffin in the near future.
