DeJoy further sabotaging USPS

He hates that the USPS massively undercuts corporate parcel companies. That's all it is. Republicans think all functions of government should be turned over to the private sector, often with terrible results.
Do they?

That would explain why we now have gray vans with a blue grin on the side delivering a lot of our orders?

Trump wanted the USPS crippled and deemed untrustworthy because he fears people voting by mail. His appointed hatchet man has remained loyal to the plan even with the mob boss dethroned.

Republicans have hated the post office for 30 years. I doubt Trump cared much until he thought he could manipulate the election.

The idea of providing a "service" to the public goes completely against the grain of republicans politicians, unless they benefit from it.

Health care for all, nope, they are covered through their elected position.
Social Security, nope, they get rich due as part of being in their elected position, plus a pension.
Equal voting rights, nope, and that is a big nope, that the last thing they want as it threatens them.
Equal rights for women, nope, misogynists just can't deal with that.
Equal rights for minorities, nope, racists just can't deal with that.

If there's a Hell, there's a whole continent dedicated to Republicans.

Biden cannot directly.
Looks like DeJoy isn't sticking indefinitely. Decent chance he can be removed in a year or so. Unless conditions become really dire, looks like a difficult time for the US for mail delivery and for postal workers in the interim. Dejoy wields a machete in one of the public's most important institutions.

True, and worth investigating. Could it be because the US Postal System is a government ran agency? And, this same US Postal system tends to hire minorities, minorities that vote for democrats? Could the republican issue with the USPS boil down to racism? YES!!! Yes it does boil down to racism. And we have the proof... Proof in why Donald Trump realized an opportunity. Trump would install someone like a Louis Dejoy who's only job it was to target Blacks with efforts to restrict Black voter turnout within minority communities. Trump and Dejoy realized in this Covid environment that minorities would use the absentee balloting process to cast their vote, and so that inspired Dejoy to remove mailboxes, while Trump suggested that absentee ballots were somehow fraudulent, all to hinder the minority vote. Trump feared minorities, Dejoy was there only to do the bidding of Donald Trump, and it all came down to simple racism.

Trump, McConnell, Pence and Cruz probably glimpsed in DeJoy an incredible opportunity to block and delay millions upon millions of legal and timely mail ballots.

They could practically guarantee future service cuts, which would mean layoffs, sorting center closings, truck fleet cutbacks and loss of millions to private trucking companies with contracts with the USPS. With a few pen strokes, they could eviscerate hundreds of thousands of unionized Workers of Color. This would deprive Democrats of some of their most loyal supporters.

Can't win by following the laws of the land and the Constitution from which our laws are based so what's a party to do huh?

Well the answer to that just so happens to be provided by the Repub party, of whom are fellow Americans who have decided that it's much much better to cheat, lie and steal if they can in order to rule the nation any way they can no matter what laws they break (as witnessed by their heartfelt approval of Trump's four year traipse down the crimson path of crimes against the people). And what's worse is that they're doing it while laughingly and preposterously posing as the patriotic defenders of Our Constitution and heh, Law and Order.

Can't have it both ways followers of Trump, you're either for free and open elections as prescribed by the laws of the land or you're criminals intent on violating any law, ethical and moral boundary set forth by your very own forefathers.

Traitors the lot of you.

Trump appointed Louis DeJoy as part of his plan to destroy a bastion of good and stable employment.
He was betting that people with common sense would not risk going to the polls during a pandemic, and he hoped this would impact mail-in voting. That way only those without common sense, his base, would venture out to the polls.

Wigged out guy like Donald Trump doesn't know what "common sense" means. He got high on the cheers at the rallies, the pats on the back (figuratively) he was getting from his sycophants, his hirlings and donors. He tied his horse to the notion that mail in ballots, particularly those that were counted after election day, weren't legit. When it looked like he might lose, he then tied his horse to the notion that he was being robbed. He couldn't fathom that Joe Biden had stayed home, no rallies, and could beat him. In his mind, it had to be illegit. He then spent the last 2.5 months of his administration flogging that "stop-the-steal" horse (sucking his base for $$$) and playing golf, period. On the way, he incited an insurrectionist mob of his supporters to literally attack and desecrate the Capitol Building, occupied by the legislative branch of the US government (seeking their blood), promising to accompany them, and then sat on his ass in the White House and watched it on live TV for hours, ignoring desperate entreaties to send in the National Guard. All time worst president in US history, he very likely will never be topped for that ignominious distinction.

Starve some state/federal agency of funding, then point out how ineffective it is and claim it needs to be defunded/abolished because of its incompetence. The Republican way. We Republicans believe that government is the problem. Put us in charge and we’ll prove it. It’s the same bullshit conservatives peddle about Social Security or Medicare - reduce service now so that we don’t reduce service later. And then reduce service later anyway for the same reason.

Follow the money. Who has a financial interest in competitors for delivery? Who would benefit from the destruction of the USPS?

Can't find a link, but Rachael Maddow had a woman on last night who used to be head of an organization that promotes voting by mail. She has been selected or nominated to the PO board by the Biden admin, and another person is also up for another open slot. It may take a while longer, but DeJoy will be on his way out.

Oh, by the way, he's also being investigated for playing the Agnew game of hiding payments by giving bonuses to employees, then making them give it back to him to bribe, I mean donate, to his favorite political party.

Remember that episode of Lost where Juliet commented that the only way she would ever be able to leave her job is if Edmund Burke was driven over by a bus. Probably about what it would take for DeJoy to leave his job.

I went to my town's main post office yesterday (Berkeley, CA), mailing my state income tax return... needed postage. Got dinged for $4.80 because my envelope was too thick to fit through the slot he tested it with (in an effort to convince me that the charge was legit... clearly, he already knew that it was too thick... it was around 1/2" thick). I complained "that's highway robbery!" He goes, "it's a lot cheaper than Fedex." I stopped complaining.

I asked to buy stamps, I wanted some of these stamps:

$1
$0.50
$0.25
$0.10

The guy says they are out of all that. They didn't even have FOREVER stamps, which are equivalent to $0.55 stamps. The only thing he had were two kinds of $65 cent forever stamps that champion a couple of charitable causes. IOW, if I bought them I'd pay an extra dime a stamp and, I presume, a dime would go to the causes. I walked out without stamps (I have plenty of forever stamps)! I couldn't believe it. Over many decades I've never had problems getting a variety of denominations of stamps. I suppose it's Dejoy (ultimately the traitor_Trump) to blame for this.

Sarcasm?

Damn, I can't believe this guy is still here. Fire this fker already.
That's the issue. He was appointed by Trwump and his position is insulated from political influence. It's very difficult to get rid of him. He himself has said "you won't get rid of me for a long time." It's a fucked up situation.
