Howdy.

Have had a repeat problem on the same system that I think must be deeper than I originally diagnosed. ATX system got a "keyboard not found" or similar message on boot. KB connections all appeared to be correct. PC would not reboot using Reset button or Power button. Used power switch on back of box to cut power. When power switch turned back on, no power returned to machine when hit front power button ie. dead - no power whatsoever. So...replaced MOBO - no result. Replaced case (with same MOBO) - machine booted no worries.

Now exactly the same scenario has happened again except I haven't tried to repair it yet. What is the deal? I can't believe switching off the power is damaging the power supply. Is this possible? Could it happen twice on the same machine in a matter of six months? Or is there something else contributing to this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.:frown:

Do you have a surge suppressor or a UPS on the system? I would begin looking at the input voltage from the wall. It sounds like you're toasting the power supplies. Use a voltmeter and check the wall voltage and the voltage at the end of your power cord. You should also replace the power cord just in case, they're cheap.

Switching off the power supply will DEFINATELY NOT hurt it.

Good Luck! :D
