This is why you talk to career counselors. Do you not have a career center on your campus?

Well, rather than throwing a bunch of sh!t on the wall and seeing what sticks (ie. ATOT), why don't you use your career center to contact some people in these fields directly and ask them. I'm not trying to be an ass (yet), but many times people get frustrated with their job hunt out of college b/c they didn't fully utilize their career center.

accountants are not just H&R block book keepers. Lots of time, you will see an accountants do finance work for a company because that is what an accountant does best.

accounting does not mean bookkeeping in the academic world. most accounting majors are auditors and have their CPAs

geesh....it does not work that way.....just b/c you get your masters or MBA does not mean you will get that big paycheck. If you are so concerend about money, get an accounting degree and get your CPA.

better yet, get a math degree and become an actuary.

If you do not want to do work, you wont get money, it's that simple. CPA's get paid alot for a reason.

As a CPA (or soon to be CPA), there are no limits to the career opportunities available to you...from public practice to business/industry to government and education.

Public Practice
Auditing
Assurance Services
Environmental Accounting
Forensic Accounting
Information Technology Services
International Accounting
Consulting Services
Personal Financial Planning
Tax Advisory Services
Business and Industry
Financial Management
Financial Reporting
Internal Auditing
Management Accounting
Non-Financial Positions
Tax Planning
Government
Not-For-Profit
Education

There's more to it than just "Bookkeeping"

Magement, Marketing, HR: You get hired because of connections and luck, because anyone that understands people can do these jobs.

Accounting, finance, economics: You get hired because of the skills you know. Work hard, and you'll have a job.

Your choice.

anyways, as far as the OP is concerned.. he must be no more than 16 years old. acts like he knows everything about the business world already, but wants something thats both easy and pays the most...

having a vision is good (ie 'i plan to go to grad school') ... but having a cocky (and ignorant) attitude wont get you anywhere but right into a brickwall.. just another kid who thinks he knows more than evreyone else

Nah, it's just the common business major attitude. They all think a business degree tanslates into easy money. Thank God for weeding out.
