Defying Gravity?

Has anyone seen this show?
I just noticed it has been on since the beginning of August and seems like its sci-fi.
Is it any good?

I watched some of the premiere and it is absolutely not what you think. It's like Grey's Anatomy or Dawson's Creek (I guess, I've never seen either) in space.

Seen bits and pieces of it. Not enough to form a real opinion. From the little I've seen though it looks like a show with a shitload of promise, at least from a premise point of view, that's not being utilized. Again that's just from the few small pieces I've seen.

Huh.

I saw this synopsis and it sounded like real scifi:

In the near future, eight astronauts from five countries (four women and four men) undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission covering thirteen billion kilometres. With the eyes of the world upon them - everything they do is monitored, and every emotion they feel, scrutinized - they soon discover that their real assignment is not at all what they thought.

The little I've seen of it doesn't seem very scifi beyond the excellent set design. Which is a shame like I was saying above because the synopsis you mention is what I would expect too and would make a great scifi show.

mostly boring.
i guess theres some conspiracy thing going on that will be revealed. frankly they drag that reveal on way too long. its mostly drama, not much space or scifi. and unless they ramp the story up soon, its going to be a total dud.

I've watched the first 3 episodes. Seems ok but it will really depend on if they actually put to work a decent premise. I'm not sure they'll pull it off.

Been watching it. Not bad. It's kinda got a Lost thingy to it, not so much a million unanswered questions, but 1 unanswered question about some mysterious thing they slowly reveal more of. The Acting and sets are really good though, theres just not much for Action.

It gets better up to episode 6, which is probably the best episode yet. It is a lot of drama for a space show though but still good.

I suppose one could deem getting pulverized by a Crate "Action". 😀

The show does seem to get better with every episode though.

I'm really disappointed with this series - was expecting it to actually be about space travel and exploration, but it's the same old drama wrapped in a different package... They copy the "Lost" method of character development through plenty of flashbacks. I hate the characters though, they're all self absorbed headcases that in reality would never be allowed to do anything more than mop the floors at NASA much less be on a mission. If you want to see the real mini series that Defying Gravity ripped off for images and plot, you can look up BBC's Voyage to the Planets.

I tried the first two episodes and it was nothing but a bad soap opera in an outer space setting. I stopped watching when it didn't improve.
