The one that comes with XP is diskeeper. There is no way it isn't "cutting it", it does exactly what a defrag program is supposed to do. You are wasting your time getting another program.

I run it over and over, and my drives are still very fragmented. I just downloaded the freeware "Buzzsaw" it works much much better.

Good choice! And you can download the free trial @ their site to see if you like it or not.

Windows does not exactly use diskeeper, but basically a lighter version. Also diskeeper is terrible. Just defragmentation does nothing for performance compared to programs like PerfectDisk and O&O. Both actually order files depending on different things such as acess, name etc.

I myself use O&O and defrag with COMPLETE/Name.

I used to partition all my disks.

Then I tried Diskeeper Pro.

It has a feature where you can resize you MFT. MFT bloating was causine severe fragmentation on my HTPC. (Large partition is the culprit) Defragging that drive would take a few hours and had to be done way too often.

I let DK Pro enlarge the MFT and fragmentation issues are gone. Also, You can use the built in TSR and never manually defrag again.
