Hi,
I bought a used Radeon x1950XT from a member on this board and I could have sworn I have a 500W PS but when I looked inside the case to my horror I found this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817103915

I searched the threads here and from what I can tell about the 12V rail, I have to get a new PS in order to use this card. I just wanted to double check with the smart people here before I went spending more $$$.
TIA

PS- My current rig:

Abit AS8
P4-3.2GHz
6800GS unlocked
2GB RAM
DVD/CD drive
1 Maxtor 100GB SATA
1 Seagate 200GB IDE

PPS-One of the reviews at the egg stated:

Comments: Darn good power supply - rated for 300w but the power output actually is measured at around 390w. 200w output for 3.3+5v rails - better than many 400w power supplies - and it's keeping my radeon 9500 -> 9700 and my fsb o/ced from 133 to 150 running smoothly (2.4 processor stock, pc2700 ddr stock running 2-5-2-2-2 timings).

For those who have voltage problems, check your motherboard's voltage regulation. Chances are that the PSU is doing fairly close to 3.3/5.0/12V output at the molex connectors, but the mosfets/power connectors on your board aren't doing so well.

Animal,
Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it! I meant to say my son's old computer already has the coolmax in it, and I was just thinking of swapping it out since he isn't using it anymore. At any rate, I'll look into the Antec Earthwatts to find out what specs make a decent power supply.
Thanks again.

The Coolmax should have enough power, but is very poor quality--I would advise against using it. The specs won't really tell you too much, I would start by reading some PSU reviews at jonnyguru.com and also the sticky threads at the top of this forum if you haven't already.
