If you've mastered the fan dance and you're a boy, then you could be called a fan boy.

Weird Al really needs to make a "Fan Boy" song to the tune of "Rude Boy" by Rihanna

That's your opinion, dosen't that make you by your own definition a fan boy for everything you prefer, surely just arguing for your preference dosen't make you a fan boy there must be more to it than that.

I would argue that I like chocolate, and dislike Liquorice, dosen't make me a chocolate fan boy does it? even if you think chocolate sucks.

Blind loyalty.

That makes sense as a definition, but I would say that my preference in the whole Mac/PC debate is based on experience, not some blind loyalty or thinking that the sun shines out of steve jobs...

As the potential holder of this blind loyalty, you are not an unbiased and impartial judge of it.

Blind loyalty.

This. I haven't checked your posts but if you've been defending without acknowledging any negatives and bashing Windows without acknowledging their positives then you're a fanboy. Seriously if Windows was really the piece of crap some Apple enthusiasts claim then they wouldn't do so well in sales.

That's a very good point, the main criticism I have of OSX which windows has as a major plus is compatibilty, both with software, like gaming and hardware, it runs on anything.

The other thing is I haven't been saying that windows is a piece of crap, just that personally when I boot my computer I generally choose OSX for general use as I prefer it.

Oh this thread's gonna be epic. No one would disagree that fanboism = blind loyalty. However, in my reading of the interweb, I have deduced and it's a theory of mine of course, that the term "fanboy" as it is used today by the denizens of the cyberspace, equates to an ardent/zealous follower of a technology/product/personality/phenomenon that is in the minority. The last word is key. Today, YOU (the Apple followers) are fanbois. Tomorrow if Apple becomes the dominant supplier of OS/Mobile technologies (God forbid), WE (those who are not in the minority due to our usage of/subscription to the dominant/most widely available technology/product e.g. Microsoft) will become the fanbois.

True, i'm just interested to know what people think, because I was taken aback when I was told I am a fan boy. Although I prefer somethings to others, I dont have a blind allegance to one over the other, If tomorrow OSX got a massive update and became a pile of crap I'd drop it like a hot potato and shoot over to windows 7

Love it. Ha

OP people online love to attack people who like their Apple products. My iPod Touch is my favorite tech gadget of the past 10 years, so that makes me a huge Apple Fanboy. Apparently I cannot like the most complete PMP simply because it's awesome, it's gotta be I'm part of the cult.

I'd say hardware is one of the advantages of Apple. Since there is a limited number of configurations, Apple doesn't have to accommodate as many driver as Microsoft does. With windows, tho it's not as bad as it used to be, you have to be able to figure out conflicts with interrupts if you add several cards like sound, raid controller, nic, and whatnot.

who here remember have to change jumper setting to get everything to play right.

(I don't own and apple products and don't plan to start.)

I agree, I think the fact that apples software is designed to run on specific hardware is a plus, but conversely this advantage leads to incompatibility issues, so it's a plus and minus.

^ fan boy.

you're welcome, OP.

Wait are you saying that the person who posted that comment is a fan boy (if so, good spot) or are you saying that you agree with the comment and that I am a fan boy (if so my response is above)

then you wouldn't be a fan boy...unless you've settled on experience that is now 5-8 years outdated, which as you know being in the tech industry, is no serviceable experience whatsoever.

Yes, I believe your perspective is correct, but experience, depending on the subject at hand, is relative. You may have learned to prefer Mac over PC because of frustration with Win ME or XP vs OS X, and simply settled.

That experience is now irrelevant, as is comparisons to Vista, etc.

Same applies in both directions, of course.

Very good point, I've been using windows 7 for the last 8 months or so aswell, but so far I'm not swayed but it's a big step up from vista.

no, his (assumed) blind devotion to one side of this debate has left him unprepared to properly criticize the legitimate faults of his competitor, acknowledge the very real positives of the competitor, and has resulted in a simple, non-descriptive ad-hominem attack on the competitor.

It's like die-hard sports fans. They are the fucking worst (I should know, b/c I'm frequently guilty of such asinine devotion-inspired debate).
