To be fair, it looks like they bagged several NBCUni shows. I doubt it means they actually pick up anything that's canceled though.

Yeah. Its apparently come from 2 sources at Amazon. Apparently that was part of the deal so that Amazon could get the other shows like Grimm, Eureka and Warehouse 13.

Have to wait and see if more info becomes available. Interesting idea. Help pay for our current show if you want to stream our older shows.

Now I know this show is a scifi show as they said scientists have proven the g-spot is a real thing. ;)

I haven't watched episode 6 or 7 yet, but my review after 5 episodes:

4/10

It's the same story lines we've seen dozens (or hundreds) of times before. Same content. New actors. What really bothers me is that people use the brothel, talk about polygamy as its a normal ok thing to do, and yet in the same episode the alien chick wants to murder some guy who molested her dozens of years ago. Then makes out with the token black dude who just happens to stumble in on her in a isolated point. She cares that much to murder someone for sexually abusing her, then screws another dude 5 minutes later. You'd think the thought of molestation would have turned her off.

So cheese.

None of the characters feel real or believable, and the story lines are just garbage. I see this cancelled before season 2.

They already renewed it for season 2.

Also I don't believe the episode you talked about had the guy molesting her so much as torture her for seeing if she was some kind of prophesied child.

The story line of this last episode was really irritating IMO. I'm losing interest.

he didn't sexually molest her. he more like tortured her

last episode was a bit dumb. that whole razor rain thing made no sense. how was the whole town not destroyed? those pieces were blowing huge holes in the buildings and people are living in tin huts and hiding in small vehicles.

Just watched the 'razor rain' episode.

I agree that chunks of metal 10 or 20 pounds each would have wiped Defiance off the map. Even the idea that some how an approaching meteor shower would look just like thunder clouds is laziness on the part of the creative team.

Here's the best thing I can say about the show. Stargate SG1 had some awful episodes the first season but it got much better.

The occasional good acting seems like an island in the middle of the ocean.

It is hard to believe that Syfy didn't choose to air this episode with the Jaime Murray lesbian scene and the Warehouse 13 episode with Jaime Murray guest starring. Strange how not hot Jaime was in both shows.

I predict that the ratings will continue to drop. The second season is going to have far less money available and they are going to cheap out in a major way on the episodes.

I'm one episode away from calling Defiance a failure. Then again, Syfy could have called it "After Earth" and had Shamalongadingdong direct it.

Ahh. I was probably falling asleep at the story that I was probably zoning in and out to the episode and didn't really catch on. I guess the fact she kept saying "His smell" was making me thing it was sexually driven as well. (Smell usually means closeness, like body to body, etc)

The problem is that if you're going to use Jaime Murray as viewer bait, she has already done Spartacus. SyFy can't top that as far as showing off Jaime Murray goes.

You're already half-right. It's still holding a 0.6 rating thankfully, but last night was only 1.69M viewers.

Yeah, I just came to post those numbers.

For comparison the 7th episode of Stargate: Universe had a 1.626 live+SD. When it is almost the same numbers as a huge bust like Universe its time to say it.

Defiance is a BUST.

Now, Syfy has set up alternate revenue streams like the game and Amazon Prime so its possible the show is making more money than Universe. The second season is already a go. The question is how many episodes?

I don't see any way that Defiance numbers can improve. Even if the show gets better like Sanctuary did, you don't get a second chance at a first impression. And the impression is that its not good entertainment.

Syfy needs to go back to the drawing board. If they are going to spend decent money on a flagship show it has to have spaceships and pew pew.

Allow me just a moment to laugh at Syfys incompetence.

Ok, I'm done.

In the long run it may still be doomed, but I don't think yesterday's numbers were a regular occurrence right now. Rather it's a one-off weakness, either due to coming back from a break or due to everything else that it had to go up against last night (including the Revolution season finale). I actually expect the numbers will go up next week, although probably not by a ton.

I dunno. Shows without good buzz shows seem to almost always fall to a level where the regular viewers are. Its getting warmer and there are just less people watching tv now. Universe got its numbers on Friday nights, in the fall, when it was up against network programming on a night few people watch tv. The fact that on a Monday against little new programming Defiance is pulling the same numbers is, imo, a sign that the show is going to bottom out at 1.5- 1.6.

Just watched the last one, with as much effects given to the stuff hitting hard packed dirt road, figure it would have shredded most buildings much more than shown.

Was pretty funny with the guy getting resurected though. I was thinking while watching that it would be funny if he started to move or something just before they tossed him in. But it was a bit surprising even after thinking that when he burst out of the acid.

All this talk about Universe makes me nostalgic. I loved that Stargate so much and enjoyed it a lot more than SG1 and Atlantis.

The thing that I like about Defiance is that the characters are all likable even though the storylines are kinda lame.

My favorite scifi show right now though is Continuum.

Ratings for episode 7, June 10th are in.
Almost identical to last weeks at 1.69 million live+same day, 0.6 share.

Although, this last episode was up against virtually no competition.

Julie Benz is hot. So is L-Word brothel "mother".

But I tried watching an episode last night and sorta skimmed it, then muted it, and focused on my computer. I did like the premiere.

I just looked at the imdb ratings and compared it BSG.

Turns out that Defiance is highest rated by those 18 and under. While BSG was highest rated by those 18-29.

I guess this really is a kiddie show and I have been judging it as a young adult show.

They need to blow this show up and move it in a completely different direction. Get on an Ark and take off into space would be my first preference.

space came to earth, why would they go back to space? kind of defeats the whole premise of the story.

Do wonder why they haven't done more stuff looking into tech other than about 30 seconds in the pilot.

Show->game story is off badly. In the game there's some infection going on as part of the "episode" story line, has been this way for like 3 weeks. I expected to see similar themes in game based on the episodes, so for example last weeks episode with "razor rain" would have been in last weeks game episode mission or something similar. There has only really been one week that lined up to any degree.

Yeah, the show to game crossover is laughable. Basically just a marketing gimmick just one step short of a lie to sell the game.
