Defence Force Jobs - Are they good?

Are defence jobs good in any western country? Australia, USA, UK etc. How do they pay, housing, health benefits that sort of thing. Comfortable life or not?

Hey now, a properly used military is a strong force for stability. Of course, the key phrase there is "properly used."

And since the OP doesn't appear to be another spammer... In the USA, a soldier's gross pay is generally pretty low, but their living expenses are almost entirely taken care of and there are programs to help them with higher education and personal debt, so their net pay is actually quite respectable.

To the OP: It can be difficult to pick and choose a country to work for, they typically require you to be a citizen before they trust you to protect them.
