Defective 6800 Ultra OC

Hey folks,

I just got the new Ultra OC in the mail today and I gotta send it back. The fan is making this god awful racket when I stand my tower up (it's very quiet when it's lying on the side and the card is directly vertical on the mobo). Just called BFG and I got it RMA'ed.

Just letting you know some of the fans are imbalanced and you might have problems with it. BFG was great at handling it and they've been very helpful.

Did you examine the fan to figure out what was wrong with it? It may have been a simple fix that could have saved you from the RMA process. You never know.

Yep. Motor oil comes to mind.

Could be a chord hitting the fan. It's happened to me before, that could explain the noise it makes when the case is upright.

Yep, checked everything...was definitely the fan becoming imbalanced when it was horizontal...I checked the cables first ;-)

I think I'm gonna just stick with the 6800 GT I already have in my case...what's the real point of getting the Ultra when the lifecycle of these cards is so short anyway (I bet we see faster 6800s by Christmas...)
