"Default Monitor"

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
AMD 3400+
WinXP SP2

Haven't had this problem before until I hooked up an LCD, reinstalled XP and then hooked my old Sony GDM-500PS back on.

I've tried older versions of Catalyst drivers, reinstalling XP and removing the Default Monitor from the Device Manager. All no go.

Although I can use a small utility to set the refresh rate at 100Hz, it still bucks me to see the Default Monitor in the Display Control Panel heh.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Have you informed Windows which display is actually connected?

It used to be that you used a monitor.inf file to let the operating system know which monitor is installed.

Yes, I've tried that too...specifying "Have disk" thing, but XP told me that it could not find anything to use.

Although I am only using 1 CRT right now, there are two screens in the Display Panel. Both have "Default Monitor" listed. Thanks.
