Default gateway won't work anywhere! NETGEAR crap.

So this NETGEAR router is suppose to be 192.168.0.1 instead of 192.168.1.1 but it does not work... When I go to the Status of the network in the control panel, it shows me that it is 192.168.1.1
When I talked to my ISP, they have no clue and say they have to send someone out to reset things completely / re-install software on the modem/router?

It is a Netgear 3000D Modem/Router combo.

How are you connecting to the modem? Wired or wireless? If wireless, it's possible you're logging in to someone else's router. If you are wired and getting that address as the default gateway, then the IP address of the modem/router has been changed but you should still be able to use it normally. However, if the IP has been changed, it's possible that the default user name and password have also been changed so you'll need to find out who changed it and what the new password is.
 
If you received 192.168.1.1 from DHCP then it's either that or someone changed the settings on the router. That doesn't make the router crap, it just means you don't understand networking.
 
Research this router. Lots of people having this issue.
I am definitely connected to my own router.

The issue is it wont go to 192.168.1.1 or the default this model is set for: 192.168.0.1

So what could it be?

If you're sure it's supposed to be 1.1, then set a static IP on your PC and log into the router's web admin interface and fix the DHCP settings.
 
Search for just the model "Netgear 3000D" and it comes up with several guides (including the manual from Netgear) to manage the router. The default IP should be 192.168.0.1 but if the modem that vikings197 has is giving out 192.168.1.x addresses then the configuration has been modified and he/she will either need to log in with the 192.168.1.1 address and the new (if changed) password to reset things, or manually reset the modem to default settings and start over.

What does IP config tell you as your default gateway when you get an address via DHCP? Otherwise you can reset to factory defaults and go from there.

It does not really matter who change what, you have the box in your hand read the manaul and learn hoe to deal with it.

Connect the box LAN (output) port with a wire to a computer that is Off the network .

Do hard Reset of the Modem/Router and do from the computer this.

Description is the card manufacturing data.

Physical address
is the card's MAC number.

The xx should be a number from 0 to 255 (all xx same number).

yy should be from 0 to 255

zz should be from 0 to 255 (all zz the same number.

The lease date should be valid to the current time.

*Note 1.
IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx is not valid functional IP.


*Note 2. There might be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet traffic or LAN. They are needed for Win 7 special HomeGroup configuration.

Dude this is how products get a bad name from inexperienced people jumping the gun and blaming the hardware.

Now start a new thread stating that the Netgear router does accommodate inexperienced people and magically tell them what there password and ip address is.

You need to relax, you're the one who pounced on the Netgear calling it crap when you know it's not the device's fault someone else changed it's settings.

Worst case you can reset it to defaults and change it back to whatever you want, which I'm sure the manual tells you how to do.
 
I'm not sure i understand the underlying problem. Why is it bad that you're router is handing out 192.168.1.x instead of 192.168.0.x? What are you trying to do? Are you concerned that your router was incorrectly setup and wanto reset it up again from factory default? Are you not getting internet? What are you trying to achieve?
