Despite it being and act of God to get everthing approved, here are some images from their concert Sunday.

Next up... Poison

The EXIF shows 550mm as your focal length -- what lens were you using?

ISO 6400 and those puppies look clean... I'm impressed.

I was using my 400 2.8 with a 1.4TC. I initially didn't think I was going to be allowed to roam around so I used the 400 as my main lens.

There isn't much room in between the stage and the crowd so it's easier to use the 400 and just get closer for the head shots. I got lucky with a few of them and had the guitarists actually look at me. I've been told that some bands that have been in the business for a long time (for example, Kiss) are known to sing to each photographer so they can get a good shot.

I did have my 70-200 with me, but ended up not using it.

I was also using the D3s which is really clean up to 6400. ISO 8000 is usable if you overexpose a little bit and bring it down later.

Nice photos and damn decent of them to let you do your thing. Do you offer to send your shots to the band?

My understanding is that Def Leppard is very anal about the media. I got in because of the paper I shoot for. I probably won't offer any shots to the band since they are so big. I've done that for smaller bands if they personally credential me, but not for these guys.

Thanks though, I had a lot of fun.
