Deer are pests...they's thicker'n fleas on a dog's butt around here. I usually have several in my yard every day. Driving down the roads become an exercise in "Deer Dodging"

The deer probably feel the same way about you.

No doubt. I will be working in my yard, not really paying attention...and "NUDGE," "Hey hooman...got any food?" They can't be hunted or otherwise bothered here, so they don't have much fear of people. (But it's a $1000 fine and 90 days in jail if you get caught feeding them.)

It is easy. Don't approach and observe the animal when he is down. Be ready to place another round if need be.

Any large game hunting you never go up to the animal right away.

I saw that yesterday. Yikes.

Not a fan of deer. When you live in a place that's as thick with them as I have (esp. in the Upper Peninsula, but even in downstate MI there's plenty, even in the suburbs) you tend to not like them so much. Every person in my immediate family has been involved in a deer-car crash; it's like almost a certainty you'll hit one of the things sooner or later.

Man on the way to work this morning one must've gotten smoked on the highway, WOW was that thing gibbed. One less nuisance.

Body shops love them though...

Meh, I just know we clearly don't eat enough deer because their population is a serious issue.

I'd love to put a couple of the local bucks in a nice freezer...but apparently it's a felony to hunt them. They's pertected.

I guess sometimes you have to follow up a load of buckshot with a buckstab.

As far as hitting one with a car goes, those small deers (deer) just disintegrate when bulldozed with a SUV. One instant there's a deer in the road, the next just a ragged spray of fragments.

I saw a guy try that once. The deer was shot in the back and couldn't move his back legs. Grabbed the deer by the antler with one hand and with his knife out... The deer flicked his head and threw him about 10 feet through the air. He then got his gun a shot him again, in the head.

He was a dumb@ss.

lol. not sure how many times I've seen this/had it forwarded to me....it is one of "those things"

I imagine listening to those words through some crisp, bourbon-voiced pro doing a 15 minute bit on the Chitlin Circuit, when the "colors mixed" on several nights, recorded on some LP from the ~50s-60s, back when people started really understanding "comedy" in all its languages, through these very typical bootleg albums that were sold under the code.

I read it now like you would any folk tale, or song, or lore or whatever. It is so perfect in execution that it is canonized as "history" ...like the Odyssey or the Illiad, or the various Bibles and such: real places and real peoples and real true things that happened...but then a whole lot of stuff in between.

...but fuck it, we all love it and know how true it is.

I read this last week, and while I'm not a hunter, I do know better than to approach a wounded wild animal. And black powder muzzle loading rifles have under 1000 fps velocity.
