Pretty much. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you one of those "liberal media" types? Did you think the newsweek story was a problem? If you aren't, than this doesn't apply to you, but there are plenty of people that are outraged when the media challenges the administration. In the long run, this pushes the media to be more lenient with the administration (look how the NY Times was so soft on GWB in the buildup to the war) and makes them less likely to publish watchdog stories.

Am I liberal media type? If that means I think a high % of MSM is left-leaning then- yes. But it's not all bad... see my topic here.

Like I said, I have no problem with the Watergate issue, it's just I'm suspicious of the people who want to beat this breaking particular story into the ground.

I am misisng something here? Was there any partisanship involved? Is there anybody who thinks this guy did wrong? Isn't everyone happy that the whistle was blown on Nixon once they found out he was a crook?

Guess you haven't seen the interviews that Nixon diehards like Pat Buchanan gave after the news broke today. :disgust:

More details to come. I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet.
He's 91 yrs old and about to die so he finally came forward.

This is so "ancient" history now so it's moot.
Wish he'd spill more info on Poppy and the dirty deeds he's guilty of doing.
Hmm...was GHWB's Poppy a wee bit upset that Agnew was picked to be V.P.?

And who was it that was part of the "Plumbers"? Ayup....CIA. Who was in with the CIA? GHWB.

At long last we know that former FBI agent, Mark Felt is the identity of a true American hero and patriot, previously only known as "Deep Throat." It is essential that we honor him for having the guts to bring the truth of Presidential evil to light.

Now, let us hope with all the strength of all of our beings that some similarly inspired patriot will show the same valor, honor and decency and disclose the identity of the TRAITOR who disclosed the identity of top CIA operative Valerie Plame.

Pat Buchanan was on NBC news earlier tonight. He said that Felt was not a hero, but a bitter and angry man who hated Nixon because Pat Gray got the FBI Director's job instead of Felt. He said a few other derogatory comments as well.

I haven't been able to find a transcript yet, but I'm sure that polisher of the Nixon flame will be spreading his twisted version of history on other news sources in the next day or two.

While Buchanan may be correct in that assessment of Felt's motivation, it doesn't change the fact that Felt *is* a true patriot. Hell, I'm sure he risked his life doing it.

Felt is a true patriot, his acts of heroism had more effect on this country than almost anyone else in the last 50 years.

Kudos to him! We need more whistleblowers, not blind followers.

Blind followers are Republicans and Conservatives right?

Not all of them (or even most of them), but you are :D

Edit: Also, I'm joking. Just responding to your somebody-pissed-in-my-cornflakes mood ;)

I'm cool with Deep Throat's info, he did well in my book. And I never liked Nixon. But the issue with this topic isn't Watergate itself, it's a supposed "outing" to which I simply say, "ok..."

It will be an interesting piece of trivial, but WHO the guy is isn't worthy of the mad dwelling that is/will occur. The way I look at it, it's "HUGE" news because A) the media LOVES talking about itself, and B) this guy is every partisan Dem's hero.

So I'll nod my head and move on (appropraitely), but I'm sure the Left-leaning crowd will break out the champagne to toast Watergate for its negative impact on Republicans and a chance to revive political sanctimoniousness.

Man, what's with the mind-reading? You admire the guy because you think he "did well", yet you assume people on the other side like him for less admirable reasons. Give a little credit to the left, there are people on this side who aren't biased assholes. Many of us in fact ;)

Nixon got what he had coming to him & I'm glad Jimmy Carter followed him. If you ever watch the movie Miracle or have heard his national address, "A Crisis of Confidence", that they played in that movie you realize how things always seem to have a way of working themselves out if you have faith.

Deep Throat was a good movie though, but I can't believe she said they forced her to do it...? :p

Many people always knew, well believed to be more accurate, this guy was the real Deep Throat though. :D

It had nothing to do with porn. The journalists called him that because he had a lot of juicy info. Deep Throat sounds a lot better than Big Mouth.

From wikipedia:

The name "Deep Throat" was taken from the pornographic movie Deep Throat, which had become a cultural phenomenon during the period; it is also a play on the journalistic term "deep background," meaning information provided that cannot be reported directly.

I read the the connection to the movie was a myth- snopes or some other urban tales website. Maybe I'm wrong... or they were.

Thanks Conjur set up my dvr for it.
The name "Deep Throat" was taken from the pornographic movie Deep Throat, which had become a cultural phenomenon during the period;
I remember the old joke from that era:
"Why did Nixon see Deep Throat 3 times? Seemed he was trying to get it down Pat.
