If a hole were drilled right through the middle of the earth and then something was dropped into the hole, what would happen to it?

Jk, assuming it can make it through. The first drop it would reach the other side of the Earth. It would then bounce back and forth, losing a bit of energy to air resistance each time. It would eventually rest in the center of the earth.
 
If a hole was to be drilled through the earth, wouldn't the liquid core seep out into the freshly drilled hole, making it impossible to drop anything through because it would melt/stop or something like that?

What happens if you staple the bread to the cat's back and throw him up in the air?

It wouldn't come close to reaching the other side of the earth. It would only reach it's own terminal velocity on the way down towards the center, it won't accelerate infinitely. It was my understanding that we don't know enough about gravity to answer this question. My answer has always been the same as what others have said about it bouncing back and forth.

Until the Vortex spins so fast that the bread and the cat separate and each land in their correct positions.
 
What would happen if you slipped into some random stranger's attic with a camcorder, and video taped yourself talking about how the person beat you and left you up there to die, and you actually do stay until you die, meanwhile the homeowner is totally oblivious to what you've done until the smell hits, and then the cops haul them in for some very awkward questions?

Potato bread is heavier than ordinary bread, you'll need to add a small counterweight to the cat (perhaps a flea collar?) to maintain the proper balance.
