had it for the first time last friday. one of my customers had their thhxgiving potluck and invited me to it. wasnt a bad turkey, and they had a traditional roasted turkey next to it so i could compare. was juicier, but the roasted one was drier than my normal turkey i cook too. it was tasty, and the 73 min cook time was definitely easier to deal with than oven time.

Been frying one every year since I tried it out first five years ago. You can pick up the 3-4 gallon peanut oil for half price or less after Thanksgiving and store for next year. 15min oil warmup and less than an hour frying for a 15lbs bird beats the all day roasting method. Just be sure to brine ịt for really moist meat. And another thing is that you strip out all the bones and cook soup for next day. The salt from the brine cooked into the bones provides for an awesome soup. Get some fresh noodles, pour on some soup, and sprinkle on the left over shredded turkey meat. Great hot meal on cold Friday after getting back from shopping.

Fried is good, but this year I'm doing a smoked turkey. I did a practice bird this weekend and it was the best I've ever had. Takes forever but it's worth it in the end.

For all that has bought a Popeye's Cajun Turkey, has it already been deep fried and then frozen? All of the Popeye's in my area are sold out but had my sister pick one up in her area. Popeye employees say it's raw and only marinated so you'll have to fully cook it yourself. So what's the deal? I'm thinking the Popeye employees are just idiots who don't even know about the stuff they're selling.

Probably a stupid question but.....can't you tell by looking at the the turkey if it's been prepared?

Depends. If it's out of its wrapper then yea you should. But if it's still wrapped up you'll have a hard time telling. Plus I've never bought one before so I don't know how they're wrapped.
