Deep fat fryer

I just got a deep fryer also. If you use canola oil with no trans fats or bad cholesterol why do people say its so bad? I mean surely you shouldnt deep fry everything for every meal but really is there some harm in having some fried squash ?

Honestly nothing I've done with my fryer beats homemade french fries. Cut potatoes, fry once half-way. Let rest (while you fry another batch). Fry again. Season and you are done. My second favorite is wonton wrappers wrapped around a cream cheese filing and anything you want inside (may I suggest onion, garlic and maybe bacon).

As you fry food, the water inside evaporates and comes out of the food. The oil barely even touches the food because the water is pushing the oil away as it escapes. So as long as you don't overcook the food (so that the water is all gone and oil can now touch it), you really don't get much oil at all. Note: Fruit Loops don't have water, so they would be oily and fatty.

Properly fried food isn't nearly as oilly or fatty as people think.
