Deep, deep music

What do you listen to when you're stoned/in a thought-provoking mood?

I was thinking something along the lines of "Clutter" by Ronald Jenkees, or stuff from Enigma.

^I'll check these out. 🙂

Analog: Yeah, but I'm thinking more instrumental stuff. While Enigma's not completely instrumental, it's kind of what I'm looking for; music that relaxes you (analogous to Comfortably Numb?).

I'd say that Tool, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, The Mars Volta, Sublime and Long Beach Dub Allstars.

ambient music? The soundtracks for The Fountain and Requiem for a Dream. Both are epic.

I have RFAD's soundtrack, and "Death is the Road to Awe" from The Fountain. Both are amazing, and definitely would fall into what I'm looking for.

A good place to start would be the "Electric Calm" compilations, volumes 1, 2, and 3 are on iTunes, and 4 is on Amazon.

Another genre you might really get into is Dub.

Along your lines, stuff like Crystal Method, Massive Attack, Marco Torrence, Infected Mushroom, Chicane and Chemical Brothers. Deep Forest and Ambient Pill are both a little more chill.

I enjoy listening to Boards of Canada. Downtempo electonica with a sort of analog sound, really cool.

Along these same lines, check out Ulrich Schnauss and Jon Hopkins.
