"Johansen is found not guilty," Judge Irene Sogn, flanked by two technical experts, told the court. "The verdict is unanimous." She said prosecutors could appeal the ruling.

Yeah, but this was the Norweigen court. In the US, I would suspect there'd be a different verdict.

Good news. I never understand how it got that far though like these tobacco lawsiuts. They should be thrown out and fined for wasting the courts time.

In Slashdot, someone said Xing had to take their DVD player off the market and pay fines when the DeCSS case came about. When did this happen? I have the player, got it with one of my Video cards.

Notice too that the prosecuters are appealing the ruling. Double jeopardy is an unknown concept there.

How is filing an appeal double jeopardy? Or am I just misunderstanding your statement?

As the story goes Xing didn't encrypt the CSS decryption key in their player and once the source for DeCSS was published it gave away the Xing key.

They key was then revoked and DVDs made after that point would no longer play in Xing because they wouldn't recognize the key.

This is from memory so it may not be entirely correct but if you go to the Xing site there is no mention of DVD Player software.

The prosecuter is filing the appeal. Here in America if you are founf not guilty they cannopt try you again in the same court under the same crime. But there in Norway I guess even the prosecuter can appeal.

US Supreme counrt also bailed out on it
Incorrect. The US Supreme Court decided against an emergency injunction while it decides the case. That is hardly 'bailing out' in the sense you're implying.

Nope.
lol! Your "nope" is no response at all to the statement you have premised a response to. Read the article, the US Supreme Court decided against an emergency injunction while it decides the case. That means only one thing: The Supreme Court decided against an emergency injunction while it decides the case. It has still accepted the case and will rule on it, their injunction decision has no bearing whatsoever on anything other than the issue of an injunction.
