Not that I've tried any of the PE yet but I don't have real I hopes for it. Even the PDE didn't seem to do that much. Coulda just been the acetominophen making me feel a little less stuffed.
What I don't understand is how PE is any safer. Main side effect hypertension, great.

PE isn't necessarily safer, it's just not easily used as a starting point for synthesizing meth.

And from what I'm reading, CNS side effects are actually worse with PE even though it's less effective.
I'm probably just going to use a spray then. A friend recommended Vicks Sinex 12 hour metered spray.

If pseudoephedrine is your drug of choice, just ask for it at the counter. Laws vary by state but they usually keep it back there and you just have to show some id. There are actually many otc drugs that are kept behind the counters of pharmacies.

Phenylephrine sucks imo.
When I have a major sinus attack, I might, might need two pseudoephedrines to clear it up.
Over the holidays I had a bad attack and all I had was phenylephrine. I got up to 6 tablets over a 4 hour periodbefore I quit taking them. I was still clogged up.

It's not effective at all. Use oxymetazoline instead.

Here, I have to swipe my driver's license...fill out a form and sign stating that I am over 18 and will not use it for any illicit purposes, and sign a permanent register with my name, address, and telephone number (a register that other people who walk into the pharmacy can see, by the way) just to buy a single box of pills with PDE in them. And they limit how many you can buy at a time (no more than 2 24 count boxes) and those records can be used against you should you ever be suspected of running a meth lab. So, during cold and flu season, they could go "uh-oh, someone's bought 3 boxes this month...time to make a raid".
Just another example of a completely insane law that does nothing to stop what it's supposed to, and all it accomplishes is making life more difficult for everyone else.
