decking ugh

I'm in a bit over my head looking for advice. My front door has a small "deck" its 4x5' then two stairs then a concrete block with a step. I've removed the old deck but left the ledger board that attaches deck to the house. I was hoping on keeping it in place since the wood looks good but now I'm not sure about the flashing and attaching new footing on the old board. Am I being short sighted not replacing it and how bad its it to remove/remove some of my vinyl siding to inspect it?

Pics?

If the wood is in good condition, I would probably leave it in place and just replace any joist hangers or other hardware.
