lol, so basically Christmas. Nice co-op there Wiccans.

Other way around. Wiccans are basically Pagans, and the early Christians needed something to combat the huge Winter Solstice holiday the pagans celebrated and get them to join their faith. So Christ's bday was moved to where it is now when it was in all likelihood in June/July.

Who gives a shit what it was adopted from? Every tradition and thing we do at some point originates back to some common ancestor. It doesn't change or even equivocate contemporary holidays and customs.

God forbid people actually learn real history and the reasons why things are like they are.

The teen is stupid for claiming to be a Wiccan, but she is a teen who wants attention and wants to feel different.

I don't think it's stupid. At that age many people are trying out new things trying to figure out what they like and who they are and what they believe. It probably won't last, but why not let teens explore the world while they're interested in new stuff, rather than call them stupid for stepping out of the lines of what you think is normal? As long as they are not hurting themselves or others, so be it.

I agree with your opinion of the mom.

The sad thing is the daughter probably doesn't know this or any of the intricacies of the Wiccan faith. If she did, she would have told mom to stop being dumb.

Read my last post.

I've dealt with a lot of teen Wiccans. I can't respect their opinions most the time because they aren't actually interested in the theology, just the attention of being different that comes with it.

For example, this daughter probably doesn't know any of the history we are discussing, or what Yule even is.

I have met plenty of teens gone Wiccan, and none of them were honestly interested in the religion. They didn't research it, take it seriously, or honestly believe it. They just wanted an attention grabber, and I can't respect that.

But it is typical for a teen girl to be begging for attention, so I excuse it.

Yeah I can't argue with that. (But I still don't think she's 'stupid', just a typical teen trying to figure shit out)

If someone calls themselves 'Wiccan,' then they probably aren't that smart and don't know much. Adults who are actually knowledgeable neo-paganism usually call themselves 'pagans' or 'witches' or even 'heathen' (if they follow a northern European deity). 'Wicca' has kind of fallen out of favor because it has a negative connotation.

Pagans are fun. Solstice usually involves building a fire out in the woods and keeping it going all night, with at least one person tending to it. Long into the night, though, it's kind of an out door party around the fire, with meed getting passed around in a hollow horn, people making intricate oaths, and singing etc.

What kind of mom looks for a chance to be a bitch to her daughter?

A bitch.

Plus many of the Pagan objects of worship make sense. Look at the sun for instance.

I like worshipping the sun. It's always there in the morning. Keeps me warm, keeps the plants growing, plus I can see it with my own eyes . Doesn't say I'm going to hell for thinking the wrong thing. Plus no need to gather in a building to worship it - it's just there in the sky every day.

LOL, that is funny. :D
However wrong on so many levels and will have consequences for the parents also.
  • Presents have now become a bribe given to children to believe in Christ.
  • The tree borrowed by Christians in their festive idolatry is Pagan in origin.
  • The parents will be surprised when the girl paints herself red in her desire to participate in the Beltaine fireside orgy on the last night of April when it comes time to celebrate the planting of the crops.
  • The parents will be doubly surprised when the girl paints herself red again in her desire to participate in the Samhain fireside orgy on the last night of October to celebrate the end of the harvest.

i love Wiccans. Goddess bless them all.

The OP is just passing along another canard that gets spread as an email attachment and causes excitement among the gullible.

It sends out a stern warning that if you even think about questioning your family's religious beliefs, there will be terrible consequences. They might even cancel Christmas!

Purposefully trolling or are you really that stupid?

Yule became the modern day Christmas when the Christian calendar system became adopted by the Germanic people of the time. In other words there would be no such thing as Christmas if it wasn't for Yule.

Wicca was created like 60 years ago, how the fuck is it a Wiccan tree before a Christmas tree? Oh because they celebrate Yule? Big fucking deal. btw i like the Pagan stuff, but Wicca is fucking retarded. Modern Paganism? lols, more like cash grab by some hippie.

Christmas is about 98% pagan, with a little bit of Jesus sprinkled in. The Jesus isn't even required for the holiday. All the key articles, and traditions are pagan based. Easter too. That's clearly a fertility festival, and has damned little to do with Jesus other than some fancy stories bolted on to the exterior.
