Unfortunately, I'm not familiar w/ UNIX, or else I'd flip Microsoft. So....
I heard that WinXPiss prevents usage of burnt progs., games, etc.. If this is true, should I just go w/ Win2K+SP2, or SP3?

Thanks.

Yeah, at present I prefer Windows 2000 with SP2.

My secondary machine is running Windows XP at the moment and it does look like a very good OS and for the record I have had no problems, either running any games or with any of my hardware (not tried the burning software though because I don't have a CDRW on that machine but I seriously doubt that it won't let you run alternative burning software).

I'll upgrade my main machine to XP possibly when the first service pack comes out and the drivers for my hardware are a little more mature.

BTW - Win2K Service Pack 3 is not officially out yet.

im using win xp home and i can use alternative burn programs for my burner. the games work correctly but if you're unlucky, cs will blow back to the desktop after like 30mins. this doesn't happen all the time to me, it's like 1 time or not at all per week.

XP is a good OS (by MS standards), far more stable than the MS ones I've used before.

You could try using linux, personally i'm w8in 4 the latest Star Office 2 come out before i switch 2 linux. there's a company i no which distributes a copy of linux and all the freeware that comes with it. ok, it'll cost me money, but it'll save on d/l times, which wen u've got dial-up like me, it's a consideration.

I've got W2K on my son's computer and XP on mine. If I had to do it all over again, I would have saved my money and loaded W2K on my computer also.

I see no advantages with XP over W2K, and XP is slower, plus I no longer can use some of my disk maintenance programs (Drive Image 4.0 and Partitian Magic 6.0 as they don't work with XP, and my great Epson 1240U scanner, which worked great with W2K, well, you guessed it, no drivers for XP and Epson isn't going to make any available.
