You don't buy a TSX or Sentra if you want a powerful car.

The TSX will easily get 24 MPG, if not a bit more, around 28. That's more than half, not two-thirds.

It just seems wrong that someone who lives with parents would buy himself a TSX - if you can afford such a nice car, then you can afford to move out. I'd say keep the sentra and either move out or save the money for your own house.

Not a chance in hell he's getting a full-blown 40 mpg regularly on a car with 140k, unless he lives on a turnpike somewhere.

yeah, the gf can't drive a 6MT to save her life :p

i've would of got the TL, but the thing doesn't come SHAWD. plus, i think you'll like the 6MT, the revs are great - get the GPS and put the extra $1k into the suspension and bigger rear sway, it's worth it...makes my friend's 328 cry

Why are you spending so much time defending yourself.
If you know you're getting that milage why bother argueing ??
This thread is about TSX or Sentra, right ?? Not how much milage my Sentra is getting.

Back to the point, if you're making good money and you're young, splurge on something nice.....you got plenty of time to save up for a house or whatever.
All this is based on that you have a good decent job.....
I've driven used cars all my life and it was finally nice to have a decent car.

I just realized that I read your statement wrong anyway... I thought you meant that the TSX would get 1/3 of the mileage, or 14 or so MPG, not 2/3 (which is a pretty accurate figure). Sorry about that.

Keep the Sentra. You live in jersey...you see what your pip laws does for your auto premiums? In any event, given the high mileage commute, a TSX isn't that great a car to get, as it is essentially a smaller, somewhat more refined Accord. And not to get into a debate, but regular works fine for the TSX.

You would want something a little bit bigger, ie TL (which is a fine car) or perhaps a G35 (also a good car, but its got the rental-car stigma) or even an ES330 (not sporty by any means, but far more comfortable on the highway.).

Isn't that the reason why it is a great car?

I'm out of college not too long ago, steady job, and living with parents.
I could put the car money into a house or another type of investment.
Obviously the sentra.

Well, it is a great car. However, as mentioned, I would say a quieter, better riding car would be more important than a sportier one. Though the OP probably doesn't want one, he's a perfect fit for an entry level Camry (4 cyl, 30+ mpg) at only 15k or so new. Though my previous choices mentioned some of the entry-level lux sedans, it really isn't practical since he's still living at home.

Or better yet, a 2005 Corolla LE Automatic with:
ABS
Side Airbags
Alloy Wheels
Cruise Control
CD Change
Floor Mats

I was quoted $15,436 plus tax for one of these at San Francisco Toyota. I know quite a few people who have one of these and they consistently get 37-41MPG on the Highway.

Its a Toyota: It runs forever!!!

Try again, either your math sucks or you are fibbing.
I have an '04 sentra, drive 40miles/day 5/7 days of the week and i only fill every 1.5weeks.

it gets damn good gas mileage.

Under normal city driving, windows down or AC on, you think the numbers would be anywhere near that? These were highway road trip numbers.
