Hello-

I am currently planning to use one of the desktops in my house to use as a HTPC of sorts. I currently have a remote/receiver combo that works just fine, however I would like a mouse/keyboard combo to go with the HTPC. This would be useful for, if I want to show a Youtube video (via web browser) or typing an email (if needed).

However I can't decide whether to use Bluetooth, IR or RF wireless keyboards. The approximate range from the couch to TV is about seven (7) feet, though the TV is off-angle from the couch - about 45 degrees - if that matters.

Price range is about $50-75 depend on technology recommended and quality.

Thanks for your recommendations in advance

Would not go IR, you'll have too many issues with spotty connectivity. Bluetooth is nice if your HTPC has a built-in Bluetooth adapter so that you can avoid another dongle. However, you do lose a lot of "plug-and-play" capability once you throw a Bluetooth stack in the mix. Therefore, my suggestion is to get an RF set, preferably one with one of those "nano" USB dongles. You should find plenty in your price range.

If you can stretch your budget for it, check out the Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard. Note that there are multiple diNovo keyboards as well as Mac versions, so make sure you get the one you mean to get. The "Edge" version is what I have for my HTPC and I love it! It has a small touchpad on it and battery life is spectacular. It is supposedly Bluetooth, but the keyboard appears already paired to the dongle because it is completely plug-n-play.

Thanks Zap for your recommendation too. I've seen some information regarding the Logitech diNovo, but had not given it much though. I'll take another look at that one as well.
