I'll be mainly be using it to surf the internet and take notes in class although I'd also like older (5 years old or more) games like Warcraft III to be playable.

The ONLY thing the Acer has going for it is the graphics card.

While the GT 130M is still on the end of the spectrum and can't handle many modern games at decent settings, the 4500MHD still sucks in comparison. It should still be plenty to play Warcraft III and other older games though. The Dell's other specs are WAY better, so it's a no-brainer to me.

I would choose the Dell - mainly because of overall quality. Acer's niche is below Dell in that department.
 
All I know is that the 4.3 pounds is not with the 9 cell battery for the Dell. It would probably be closer to 5 and probably stick out.

I like the screen resolution of the Dell, but for what your doing the Asus Ul30vt or the Asus Ul80VT would feel the same and the discrete cards in the Asus would make a far bigger difference in games.
