Decision between 2 1156 mobos

EDIT: Nevermind, I just decided to go ahead with the Gigabyte board!

So this is the motherboard I'm planning on purchasing:

p7p55d-pro. Reasons being it's reasonably affordable, it has 8x8x lines(might crossfire in a couple months), and I believe it's suppose to overclock well enough. I plan on pushing my i5 up, but not to extreme levels.

However, everyone here seems to keep recommending the GigabyteP55A-UD4P, which looks like a nice board. I like Gigabyte boards but can't overlook the fact that it will be over $20 more than the Asus. The giga has: sata 3.0(which i don't need, nor does it seem to be worth it right now), another NIC(which I can do without), and I guess better audio(which doesn't matter to me anyway, i use a soundcard).

I could spend the money to go with the Gigabyte if there is a compelling reason to choose it over the Asus. So what would you do?

SATA 6Gbps may be useless, but the USB 3.0 on the P55A-UD4P might come in handy in the near future, since there are already USB 3.0 devices on the market.

How so? I only really use my ports for the basic peripheral connections and flash drives. If I got an external drive I'd just use esata.

Eh, nevermind. I decided the heck with it and am going to go with the Giga-byte. No reason not to. 🙂

I meant if you decide to buy a USB 3.0 drive or something. But yeah like you said, no reason not to lol.

The GA-X58A-UD3 is a good board if you wanna save money. Will limit crossfire though but has usb3.0 and sata6

P7P55D Pro and P55A-UD4P are 1156 mobos and the GA-X58-UD3 is 1366 🙂

I had the P7P55D Pro and liked it. It is a good motherboard. The Gigabyte is also a good motherboard. It's really a toss up between the two, so get what you think you will be happy with.

I just bought one of the P55A-UD4P boards and the BIOS and features are incredible. Better than the ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO I bought.

If you plan on keeping the board until SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 are the norm, then it should be obvious that you need to get the Gigabyte board. If you will upgrade in a year then don't be premature.

Nah, I keep a pretty long update cycle. This will be my first 'new' computer in basically 4 years. I do minor little things in that time, but rarely much more than that.

Reason I didn't go ud3 was because of the second PCI-e line running at 4x. I'd much rather have 2 8x lines for potential crossfire later this year.
