Deciding between Mazda 6 S Touring vs Camry SE V6.

I am deciding between these two cars

07 Mazda 6 S Touring 6 cylinder vs 07 Camry SE V6 (w/ leather)

Mazda 6 is cheaper price (something like this) and I prefer the body.

but the V6 Camry has a lot more HP and gas mileage

Which would you choose?

either get Camry, or wait for the redesign Mazda6 which is coming out next year I believe. I have a question though...
Is it a myth that getting a car in its final year of its gen is not a good idea since its resale value will tank?

Generally there is a drop in resale of last model used cars when new one comes out. However, if there are huge discounts on the outgoing model, and/or redesigned model isn't much better, then probably not an issue.

ah ic.

The 2007 Ford Mondeo looks really nice IMO, and should indicate on what the 6 should look like. It's not a huge departure (since the mondeo pretty much screamed "mazda 6!!" when I first looked at the pics), but the body lines are clean, and I really dig the grill on that car.

It looks like a larger lexus IS... which to me, is a good thing. I always thought the 6 was a bit off proportioned...it looked agressive and sporty, yet a bit too large.

So ya, either wait for the next redesign, or get Camry (good resale value too).

But.. I think the 6 has a ton of manufacturer rebates going on right now and one can be had for the same price of a 3?

I heard it's going to be a little bigger, like the Acura TL, than the current versions. Though it will carry a 3.5L 250-270 bhp/ 230-250 lb. ft V6 unlike the current ones that only sport 212 bhp and 198 lb ft. It will be a brand new design made by Ford, so I'm anxious to find out what the reliability will be like. I think they are currently being used in the new Mercury's.

A bigger engine and a bigger car means more strain on the drive train. So I'd like to see how the 0-40mph and 40-80mph stats turn out. If they can get the 3.5L V6 up to 260-280 like the Camry then it will no doubt be a better peformer on the road.

The Mazda is a nicer looking car and considered the better handler on the road (all 4 seasons). You can also get them for dirt cheap. I got my V6 for 19,500. Though I had to play hardball with the dealership. I wouldn't pay over 20k considering what the competition has to offer in the V6 class.

Considering CR rated the Fusion and Milan twins much higher than Camry for dependability, If the 6 turns out to be unreliable, it's probably not because of the Ford parts.

Fords getting 263hp and 249ft-lbs of torque out of their 3.5l on regular gas. A lot of the other guy's v6s need premium. I guess Mazda being the zoom zoom division could tweak it for premium and get some extra ponies out of it but I doubt they will. Maybe they will get their hands on Ford 3.5l twin force, twin turbos, making 420ish hp for the next speed 6 🙂.

I test drove the Camry SE V6 today, ride was ok but i am not a fan of the interior/dash.

salesman was willing to give me invoice price on everything including add ons.

Haven't test driven the Mazda 6 yet... I am now considering a Acura TSX 2007 w/o navigation. The base model is pretty loaded.
