Deceptive Advertising

For real! Common sense FTL.

It is NOT reasonable to think that it means 30 bucks for all 3 services.

Yes it is. Because sometimes companies have good promotions to get you on as a customer, and expect you to be too lazy to change companies when the price shoots up to normal.

And for ****s sake, it was BASIC cable and one of their slowest Internet packages. It wasn't exactly premium channels or anything.

Basic cable is expensive these days. Without any promos, I would be paying $35 for it. Things aren't cheap any more man.

Yup, that would break down to $10 for each service. You can't get anything for $10 anymore...

you're doing better than one of my Aunts, they never had cable until recently and she was telling me she got in for a great deal of "$99 for the first year" turns out she thought it was only gonna cost her $99 for the entire year of cable + internet + phone LOL.

How "basic" is that?
I pay $18/month for basic cable. The highest channel I get is 20, which is Discovery. And for some reason I still have HBO, though it was advertised as being available for only the first few months. Oh well. It's usually nothing but Shrek 3 and a collection of other movies that are recycled every few days.

Extended basic cable gives the rest of the normal channels. That's around $50/month. Not at all worth it. I'd watch South Park, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, and Robot Chicken. That's about it. 3 out of 4 of those are now available online for free anyway.

I actually called many months ago asking about that. I knew the answer, but I had to hear it.
Seriously, you signed up without asking?

i dont know where you live, but in most markets, "BASIC" cable is still digital cable with a number of channels and the "slowest" internet package is still 5mb.

Since Basic cable at most places is 15$ I seriously doubt you didn't know this. It is like the equal of "triple play" by Comcast..which everyone and there mother has heard about.

Never used Comcast, haven't paid for cable since 1998, I have no idea what you're talking about... are you guys deliberately trolling at this point? Sorry, not everyone lives and dies by paying someone for TV every month. Guess what? I also don't read car mags or, keep up with mortgage rates. Why? I don't need to buy a car, I'm not in the market for a house. So if Dodge/Chevy/Yugo is one of the best brands out there right now? I don't know. If ARMS are a bad idea for a house mortgage? I don't know. Anyway, those are bad examples, as I'd get outside help to go over contracts since they're major purchases. It's not on the same level as getting service with the local ISP.

There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity Ignorance is not knowing something, whether it's common or not, as in my case, coupled with the ad NOT being clear that this was a $90 bundle, not a $30 one. Stupidity is blatantly ignoring the obvious, such as someone posting about a deceptive promotion, and people asking over and over "OMG, did you really believe that?! HA!"*

*For the intelligence impaired, the answer is yes, I believed that.

I'm not sure your holier than thou attitude is really a good idea at the moment. Most of us were not the person who signed up for a service without fully investigating the terms, or clicking the button that said continue on the ad page.

As such, Cable was more than 15$ in 1998 so you still should have known better. (It was also analog at that point, whereas now we have digital). Ignorance is not an excuse and these companies actually go through quite an extensive process to ensure people ignorant of basic business practices understand there packages (due to recent litigation).

So no, people are not trolling but are awestruck that someone in todays day and age would fork out money without actually knowing why.

wow they even say all 3 for $99 or $30 each.. how anyone can think you get them all fro $30 is amazing.

When I asked TWC about an upgrade to HD (with a HD DVR) the CSR told me it was free. I must have asked him 10 times and about 10 different ways if there was going to be an addition charge just to make sure.

Some people want it all: FREE HD. Movies On Demand in HD the same day the DVD is released. Digital Phone with popular features included. Internet so fast, it makes choppy downloads a thing of the past. For those people, there's All the Best - our best products in one simple, affordable package. It's so easy to save time and money on the services you really want. Satellite and Verizon FiOS just can't compare.
O SHIT RLY?
