How does this setup sound for about $450 shipped? I've just sort of spent this hungover day on newegg and since I got a paycheck on Friday I feel a need to buy something. This is the cheap system that I've come up with. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

BLACK EVERCASE ATX MID

MAXTOR 40GB 7200RPM

KINGSTON KVR266X64C25/128 128MB DDR (I can wait to buy more when it gets cheap again)

ECS SiS745 Chipset ATX Motherboard Model K7S6A

AMD 1700

VISIONTEK Xtasy 5632

BLACK ORtek MCK-800 Multimedia Keyboard

Aceex V.92 Full Duplex FaxModem

So what do you think?

Thanks,
ctalgo

Unfortunately, Black DVD or CDR/W Drives are difficult to come by and more expensive then regular "Beige" drives.

Of course newegg has some appear in their refurbished section occassionaly, but they disappear within seconds thanks to those who have nothing better to do than monitor the refurb section every second! :(

If you have access to Ingram Micro, you can actually buy black bezels for Toshiba and HP drives (they're like $20 for a 10 pack if I remember....both floppy and CD drives). Otherwise, with USB 2.0 out, you could always go the "external enclosure" route to match colors. Black floppy drives are easy to come by, but CD and CDRW drives are a bit limited (I think Philips makes a gold and black CD, and HP makes a charcoal colored one....those are the only black CDRWs I know of). Anyway, you could always get out the spray paint too....thost bezels come off pretty easily.

The thing is, is that Ive got rest of the components so i dont need a mouse a cd or a monitor. The thing is, is that i dont want to spend more then 500. So outside of the fact that all components are not there is this a good system for a good price? Or would you all make any changes to the setup?
