Ok. That's it. Fucking done with these shit ass HP inkjets...

We've been trying to print some VERY SIMPLE address' on some envelope's to send out. Apparently it's a pain in the ass for this HP to handle. In addition, it magically gobbles up ink cartridges that I put in 2 weeks ago that I haven't used in 2 weeks 🙄

Can anyone recommend me an answer? Can a laser do all the flexible things needed like printing on envelopes and graphics? We are going to need this in order to print a lot of things for a wedding, and I'm just not sure if a laser can do these capabilities. At the same time, I want to throw this piece of shit out the window. I'm willing to invest a decent sum of money to answer our problems and not have to buy $40 cartridges every week that magically has disappearing ink.
 
I think it's at least a gen old by now, but the Epson WP-4530 I bought about a year ago has been pretty fantastic in every way.

I would say I've done about 50 larger jobs (20 or more pages) on it by now and it really seems to sip ink. I use it mostly for b/w, and the print quality is fine for me (I think I'm using the default setting; iirc I played aro0und with it a bit but settled on that).
 
The Hp laserjet pro line is quite good at paper handling, at least the monochrome ones. I'm in the market for a new one as my old laserjet 1100 only lasted about 15 years. 🙂

I had a cheap HP laserjet. lasted me roughly 15 years. i moved onto a cannon imagclass.

great printers and only like 3k pages in 3 years
 
I'd get a Canon inkjet and use those refillable cartridges.

HP inkjets are notorious for having expensive and small cartridges. Avoid the Epsons for their print head clogging.

Folks like to complain about the cost of ink but, they keep buying name brand refills or printers that use chipped refills. Some folks even have the multi - Color cartridges instead of separate colors. Who ever thought that was a good idea?

Second the recommendation for the Brother laser printers. Get something like the HL-5470DW with a 30 off 100 coupon and you'll be good to go. Sometimes OfficeMax offers them as a refurb also, which makes it even better deal. I've gotten a good 3000 pages with the included toner carts in the Brother printers as well.

A good point. I had an HP Photosmart C7280 for 4 years and put about 10,000 pages through it for about $125 in ink. How you may ask? I purchased a CISS on ebay for about $50 and (over the years) purchased 3 or so ink refills for $19.95. It worked great for years. I replaced it with an even older model (a C7180) that a friend gave me ... and yes, I use refillable ink cartridges that cost less than $20.

Got a killer deal on a Canon MX922 from Amazon and plan to purchase those cartridges when/if my current printer fails.
 
I bought 3 HP 4000 series printers from an office closing for $35, still on the cartridge from the second one (first one is ready for a roller kit), one sitting in storage waiting for first two to die.
 
I've been very happy with my Brother HL-2040. Laser was the way to go for me because I print infrequently and the nozzles kept drying up and clogging.
 
Get a laser printer. I have an HP Laserjet that's served me well for 10 years now. Honestly, so rarely comes up that I would ever have to print anything in colour. Photos I'd just take to get done at the local shop. While the toner cartridges are expensive, they last a very long time. Don't know why anybody still uses ink jet.

I think our laserjet is nearing 20 years old. it pushes out an astounding 4 pages per minute, but it still works.
 
Have a Brother 2270w laser still running on the included starter-toner ... paid about $80 for it well over a year ago & couldn't be happier.

Also still using my non-chip Canon i960 inkjet from roughly 2004.
 
Still using my samsung laser i bought during college from Staples for $50. Does precisely what i need - quality b&w printing.. I actually use an all in one HP for everything BUT to print.
 
Don't settle for anything less than throwing from a 5th story window onto pavement. Even if you have to travel a little to locate a suitable window it will be worth it. Make sure any curtains and screens are out of the way and check that the window opens far enough.

Now here come the important parts. Remove any remaining personally identifiable printed materials from the output tray and maneuver the printer to the window sill. Check below for skateboarders or anyone twerking. If there are no skateboarders hold the unit out and let it drop straight down. Do not impart any angular momentum or it could roll upon impact and lessen the destructive forces. Straight down will be best.

Clear your mind of all negativity that transpired in the past due to the printer and just walk away.
