It's legally required that Canadians eat at maple syrup under penalty of death.

Honestly, I like the Kirkland Signature maple syrup you get at Costco. It's not bad, and a pretty good deal.

thoughts on the costco maple syrup? Seems cheap enough and definitely a better flavor than the fake syrup.

If it's for pancakes and waffles I'd rather have Grade A personally.

Sam's Club does a bottle called "Uncle Lukes" for about $13. One of the better values out there if you are a high volume breakfast consumer of syrup.
Came in here to post about this. It's grade A dark amber and the best price on the real stuff that I've been able to find.

The best fake syrup is the homemade kind. Combine equal parts white sugar, brown sugar and water, boil it down to the desired thickness and add maple flavoring. Way better than the store-bought crap.

If I'm going out to breakfast and I plan on pancakes I'll take a bottle of the real stuff.
Same here. The syrup they put out on the tables here, they don't even bother with maple flavoring anymore. It just says "syrup" on it. Corn syrup colored brown. Yuk.

Oh, and French Toast is what it's all about unless of course you're talking about Pecan Pancakes.

I too get mine locally. Sometimes from the Amish, sometimes from students who live on farms that produce maple syrup in the Spring. Very cheap compared to purchasing it in the store. I may even buy an extra gallon this coming Spring, just to turn it into maple candy.

I get a bunch from Cartwright's Maple Tree Inn. Don't know if you've been there, but when they're open it's an awesome breakfast.

I like plain dark corn syrup. Not as well as maple, but it's acceptable. Artificial maple flavoring is offensive. Smells like antifreeze, and tastes like maple the same way red lollipops taste like cherry.

I've always wanted to try Tupelo Honey. I don't think we can get it here in Michigan because I think you guys keep it for yourselves. But we'll be there Jan through April so I may have to try and score me some.

I've gotten to the point that I just can't do plain old syrup anymore. It's not that I've got a "thing" for HFCS it's just that I don't care for it.

We try to stay away from Ice Cream in the house because I can barely control myself around it. I can gobble through a whole container in little more than a heartbeat. A couple years ago my wife brought home some French Vanilla (she's an enabler, but it does take two to Tango) and some Hershey's syrup. Hershey's is no longer chocolate syrup it's chocolate flavored syrup. HFCS with chocolate flavoring. I had to throw it out. It just tasted terrible to me and I surely didn't need the calories.

Not in this case. Look at the link. It's not even being touted as maple syrup, just syrup.

I think that is typical for these products. My bottle of Log Cabin at home is just called "syrup" as well. Log Cabin by the way doesn't contain HFCS. Just pure mapley goodness.

Even though grade A light amber has the least maple flavor. I really enjoy its delicate flavor on something like a Belgium waffle. Medium Amber is great on pancakes. Dark amber is the best for cooking/baking.

Every now and then I like to make maple cream and its great on toast, muffins etc.

List of ingredients in the "natural" product.

Brown Rice Syrup, Water, Sugar, Brown Sugar, Natural Flavor, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid.
