Came in here to post about this. It's grade A dark amber and the best price on the real stuff that I've been able to find.If it's for pancakes and waffles I'd rather have Grade A personally.
Sam's Club does a bottle called "Uncle Lukes" for about $13. One of the better values out there if you are a high volume breakfast consumer of syrup.
By adding water?
Same here. The syrup they put out on the tables here, they don't even bother with maple flavoring anymore. It just says "syrup" on it. Corn syrup colored brown. Yuk.If I'm going out to breakfast and I plan on pancakes I'll take a bottle of the real stuff.
I too get mine locally. Sometimes from the Amish, sometimes from students who live on farms that produce maple syrup in the Spring. Very cheap compared to purchasing it in the store. I may even buy an extra gallon this coming Spring, just to turn it into maple candy.

I've always wanted to try Tupelo Honey. I don't think we can get it here in Michigan because I think you guys keep it for yourselves. But we'll be there Jan through April so I may have to try and score me some.I like Tupelo honey on by waffles and pancakes.
I've gotten to the point that I just can't do plain old syrup anymore. It's not that I've got a "thing" for HFCS it's just that I don't care for it.I like plain dark corn syrup. Not as well as maple, but it's acceptable. Artificial maple flavoring is offensive. Smells like antifreeze, and tastes like maple the same way red lollipops taste like cherry.
Natural and artificial flavor. What is the natural flavor of syrup?Click on the ingredients and read: http://www.auntjemima.com/aj_products/syrups/orginal.cfm

Not in this case. Look at the link. It's not even being touted as maple syrup, just syrup.Maple?

Grade A is the bland crap that's sold to tourists.
Grade B is the one with the true Maple flavor. Harder to find, but worth the effort.
I think that is typical for these products. My bottle of Log Cabin at home is just called "syrup" as well. Log Cabin by the way doesn't contain HFCS. Just pure mapley goodness.
