seems like the 8400 is one of those hybrid gpus that defaults to integrated video when you are in 2d mode to save battery

I think the SZ series needs a reboot when you need to switch GPUs from the 8400 to the X3100...

There's a similar deal online at Sony's official site for a newer SZ 7 series with 2.4 GHz Penryn, 3 GB RAM, 160G HDD, hybrid GPU, ABGN, extended battery for $1600 flat with free shipping...and you can configure it yourself (it starts at 1400 ish)...might be just a little better than this older SZ6 on amazon.

I have the SZ660N/C which is pretty much the same with less HD space and slower CPU, but it's a nice laptop.

I had some issues with Vista at first, but I just downgraded to XP and it's smooth as buttah.

It's super light and the screen is beautiful. I paid ~$1500-1600 from amazon in Nov and it was an awesome deal back then.

2 things: 200gb HDD is a 4200RPM HDD, and no backlit led display on this model and thus the lower price you see. Some of the SZ series has backlit white led display and thus costs a few hundred dollar more. You can get a newer processor T9300 and white led display the SZ series for around $1800 with more ram as well
