This is the one with the 2 USB ports on the side, and the hotkeys up top (not ergonomic though). It was $38 a couple weeks ago, and they dropped it down and placed it in the clearance area. I like the USB ports since I am using a hub right now and would rather remove that from my desktop.

MS makes great keyboards, BTW. Too bad they can't match the software to them. ;)

This is a fantastic deal! These run $49.99 everywhere, and Costco has them for $39.99. I did a PM with Staples and Costco and got 2 of them shipped for $59.00, but this is MUCH better. I wonder if this is at all Wal-Marts?

Not ergonomic? That in my book is a plus. I may go pick one up, thanks for the tip...

The spacing on the ergonomics ones are all out of wack....especially the arrow keys on my girlfriend's... I'd rather have my hands fall off than have to use those things. Its too hard to one handed type or to type in your lap... plus its ugly. There is my two-cents on something that is not directly related with the topic of this thread :)

Word of warning.

The USB ports are NOT powered.....I could not run my webcam off it.

Also had problems running a MS-Explorer USB mouse and USB scanner at same time....not enough power.

You bought the wrong ergonomic keyboard. You settled for the cheap kind, Natural Elite.

Those things are worth nothing.

Get a real Natural keyboard, and it'll do you some good.

That is a great deal. I have one that I bought from costco for 40 bucks and it works great. I was able to place my scanner in a better spot since I could hook it to my keyboard's usb port(s).

Checked out the bigger of the local two Wal Marts in Greensboro, NC. Those keyboards are not sold there. Only the MS Natural keyboards. This was in the Electronics section. I dunno if they have a clearance section, and if so, where it is. The guy there said that's all they sell, but then again, what does he know? ;)

Any ideas?

Valkore: They've always had these keyboards back near the TVs on a standalone wire rack. The computer section at this one is small, but the clearance rack is quite large. Some of the prices are screwy -- 3Com 56K internal fax modem for the awesome price of $105. Is $45 for a 3Com Winmodem decent? I didn't think so but haven't priced those lately.

They also had the MS Intellimouse Pro PS/2 for $24.50. Not a great deal, but it's one of the fat ones (2 buttons only, plus wheel -- not optical) which are typically more expensive. I bought one to play with for a little while and may swap out my wife's optical for it since she doesn't like the shape of the current one too much.

yep, their prices make no sense, and are barely competitve. they have old dittos for $279... same store i bought a 3com/USR 3687-02(edit: meant to add it was marked down from $129 to $35-clearance), and they have those mouse + natural keyboard bundles for $20 after rebate. target and kmart are just as bad |(

it may be a dumb question, but these deals are always nationwide, right?
i'm in hawaii, and we are so far off from everyone else...*sigh*...i wish we had a best buy..or staples..or target! ohh yess

the wal-mart on this island is a long drive, in local standards...maybe i'll go check it out. i need a new keyboard, and this sounds good.

I think they are nationwide pricing to an extent. From what I remember with the APC hullaballo awhile ago, the products do go on clearance at the same time, but some stores may mark them down more than the initial price, at the discretion of the manager. I do not know if this product was marked down by this store recently or not. I think it was just put on clearance though because I remember looking less than a month ago at this same keyboard.

sammy: If it's that long of a drive, use a phone. :)

anyone know if this applies to St. Louis wal-marts? I want one of these keyboards!

oh yeah, how do the USB ports work? Does this thing plug into one of the USB ports and then i have two on the keyboard? Only having 2 USB ports on the back of my PC is a joke, heck with all the scanners, USB DSL modems, digital cameras and such, 2 just doesn't cut it now days.

Also, how good are the hotkeys? Can i set them to do certain functions? is their a program that lets me do that??

Called 7 Wally Worlds in a 30 mile radius of me and got the same response from all. "We carry the MS Internet keyboard but not the Pro"

But thanks for the info AndrewR!

And since everyone else is doing it:
Commodore VIC 20 with a 300 BPS modem!

Based on info learned during recent purchase:

The price on an item at your local Walmart may not reflect a "nation-wide price" at all stores.

Walmart may lower pricing at a particular store to directly compete with a local retailer - Other Walmart stores are not obligated to honor the price for that reason.

Managers do have some discretion in these matters, however. It never hurts to ask.
