Just had to share. In my office, I have my gaming rig. It gets kind of warm in there and I had to keep putting more fans in it to keep the temps down. But it was pretty loud. Without the fans my 5900U would run at about 68C. Too warm for my taste. My office is right next to the garage which usually stays pretty cool. I took a 3" diameter hose, and connected it to a homemade funnel (garage end) and stuck a Thermaltake 120mm fan in it. The other end of the hose I put through the wall via a keyhole saw through the sheetrock behind a file cabinet and ran it directly into my PC case blowing across the 5900U. Now my 5900U runs at 47C at full Painkiller load and I cant hear a blessed thing from my PC except cpu fan and vid card fan which is pretty quiet. The office is hot but my computer case is actually cold to the touch now.

Thought some of you might enjoy this.

You're running air in from the garage to your PC? Good idea, but if I were you I'd put a HEPA filter or some other kind of air filter (hell, even a regular 1 dollar furnace filter would work) in there somewhere so you're not blowing garage dirt and dust into your PC.

Don't know where you live, but I see some really good winter overclocking going on here.

Don't get drunk working on the car and hook the cars exhaust too it thinking it was the exhaust outlet through ther garage door.:D:Q:)

I use to have a PC that sat beside the AC vent. I moded the case to have an intake fine on the side facing the vent right above the cpu. That case was very cold to the touch. Cold air even came out the powersupply fan. Where I live now though has the vents in the ceiling. :-(

I've been thinking of something similar, but on a larger scale:

My house has a crawlspace underneath it.
It has mesh everywhere, and plastic down on the ground, so it is usually reasonably clean and pest free.

I was thinking to put a large pump and radiator down there, then feed all my computers with water cooling from that point. Something like a large fountain pump, in the 700-1000 GPH range. Big reservoir and big radiator to cool it down without requiring gale force winds.

Plumb in through the wall, with a manifold for 6 QC/DC fittings, three for feed and three for return, one loop per PC. Computer room could be nearly totally silent, yet I can still OC like a madman... Best of both worlds.

It's always cooler down in the crawlspace than anywhere inside the house. Only downside is the cost. To do it right, I'm estimating about $1000 once all is said and done. To do it half-assed would be about half the cost, but cheesy.

Right now just and idea I've been tossing around. Whether I do it depends on my finances and time in the future. Right now my plate is pretty full, but it's something in the back of my head.

nice mod.

unfortunately for me, my vent is 3 feet above my 21" monitor.
