not even sure what's good anymore since I've been dealing with PCI express cards. Bro in law doesnt want to a new pc so pci express is not an option. What's a good dx9 agp card currently?

6800GT, or the soon to be 6800gs.

Personally, I'd take the 6800gt or gs over the x800 cards just because of shader model 3, but for you maybe you dont want it, in which case i'd just go for whatever fits your budget.

If the 6800gs comes to AGP soon, which it might, I'd wait for that...that'd be the best card for the price without a doubt.

So the GS is going to be released in agp form? How much will it be? If I remember correctly, it's supposed to be the equivalent of a GT but cheaper to produce...right?

Well everyone here is automatcally assuming the GS in agp will be priced the same as its pci-e counterpart. Im not going to say that it isnt but i think since there is such high demand for new agp cards to be released it might be priced higher mayber $250. But i dunno if that was the case i would go with the 6800gt for 30 bucks more.
