Other than removing the truck that was damaged, what else should they do? Of course they need to get medical personnel up there to attend to the injured, but after that is done - why not keep the show going? People paid to see it, might as well finish.

You like to troll in every thread you come into. It's not that your comment is absurd, but you purposefully go against the grain and say retarded things.

What is it like being obtuse?

Because I have not experience in being obtuse.

If at an MLB game a line drive foul was hit and killed someone in the stands - do you think they would cancel the game? I would be rather upset if they cancelled the game because of that and I had to miss the rest of it, etc. Cancelling it wouldn't change anything that already happened.

Going to any event such as this bears an inherent risk to the spectators. I'm sure there is sufficient warning on the tickets. It is like those rally races - spectators get killed, the race goes on.

I don't know about Numenorean's background, but I don't really see anything offensive or silly about his post.

Ditto.

I found his last post in poor form, but the one that is quoted is not outrageous, even if I disagree. I'm a medic at those types of events (concerts, races, etc) when they come and I would definitely liked to see the show canceled if something like that happened.

In your opinion, if the show does get canceled, should the event promoters give full refunds for all paid admissions or should they just cancel the show and tell everyone to go home?

Very sad.

I took my 2 younger brothers to a monster truck show once. They were 7 and 9 years old.
It was loud to the point of pain. My 7 year old brother got all scared from the engines and started crying. I basically called him a pussy and was mad that we had to leave, wasting 90 dollars... I felt bad later though.

You know what the messed up thing is, if they DID cancel the rest of the show, what percentage of the crowd would be bullshit at spending money on the tickets?

Basically, I agree with Numenorean.

The show must go on.

While it's sad when anyone gets hurt at an event of anykind, auto races, monster truck shows, and others bring a certain level of danger. Just because someone gets hurt/killed is no reason to stop the show.

The promoters can't refund everyone's money. That'd mean not only refunds for tickets, but refunds to the participant who paid entry fees, refunds to concessionaires, etc.

Big auto races have a pretty dismal record of killing spectators in the stands over the years, yet when it happens, no one clamors to "STOP THE RACE!"

How about when someone gets "beaned" with a baseball at a World Series game? Do you stop the game, send everyone home?

Fuck that.

The show MUST go on.

I wasn't talking about the accident, I was talking about the show going on.

I have no idea how to handle the monetary affairs.

However, from my perspective my responsibility is to respond to any emergency that might occur at any event I help cover. If there was a catastrophic failure of one of the machines which lead to the death of a spectator, then the safety of the rest of the trucks are, in my eyes, questionable (even if it was a freak accident).

If I was the team leader for the first responders at the event I would order the medics back to a designated area outside the arena/track. Unless the event is completely cleared, nobody should be there. End of story.

He didn't say anything retarded. The show didn't have to stop while the medics worked or carted him out. I've been to baseball games where people were hit in the head with flying bats, and they didn't stop the game.
It's sad that a kid died, but the other thousands of people there that paid to see a show should get to see the show.

But this incident proves that we must obviously ban all monster trucks because they kill children.

no dumbass. ever been to a baseball game and a ball or bat flys into the stands? the event staff rush to where the ball or bat landed and gives the thumbs up if all is ok. this is what should be done at MT shows and it looks like it is not.
