Debian: net install, woody .. ?

Hi, I'm trying to do a net install of woody .. I'm using http://debian.yorku.ca/debian/dists/woody/main/disks-i386/3.0.22-2002-04-03/images-1.44/

I have done net installs of potato, and after I set everything up, load my modules and set up the network, setup asks me for an addy to download from .. with potato, you just point it to
(in my case)
http://debian.yorku.ca/debian/dists/potato/main/disks_i386/current
base2_2.tgz is there, and the net install goes ahead. With woody, I don't know where base2_2.tgz is.

I'm pretty sure woody doesn't use base2_2.tgz anymore, been a while since I've installed it though.

The next time I install woody, I'm using the netinst ISO. After all, it's only a 30MB download.

I haven't seen you around the boards for a while. My first ever dual boot, back in Dec. 2000 was a success thanks to you 🙂

I have downloaded, burned, booted and set up my kernel with that CD .. now i just need to point it to a good mirror... what dir am I supposed to point it to?

Nothinman, you're right, woody does not use that base file. It looks for the release file.
This net install CD is great. It's a helluva lot faster than floppies, and you get to install woody off the net 🙂

I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I managed a network install of Woody a few months ago. Although I'm not running X, I can see why folks like the power of Debian.

Maybe someone could give them the steps of taking a net install of woody and getting it up, and then using apt to bring it up to date, and get it functional with all the lastest addons from sid or something.
