Knoppix.org

Knoppix 3.2. From the CHANGELOG: "Lots of updates and bugfixes; KDE 3.1 from ktown.kde.org/~nolden/ (woody port); removed desktop=gnome option until a working gnome configuration is available; added home=device and myconfig=device (alternate: home=scan myconfig=scan); bootoption for persistent homedir and persistent configuration; evolution 1.2.1; removed some older games and packages to gain space; openoffice 1.0.2 (german and english)...

And, I just converted my brother (a 10+ years IBM/PWC programer) to Knoppix last night when he came over to help me with XSLT & some JSP :)

Sigh!

I wish I had the energy and the desire (read: diskspace) to create an additional partition on my drive and try
knx-hdinstall...

Make sure you download the KNOPPIX_V3.2-2003-03-21b-EN.iso version instead of the KNOPPIX_V3.2-2003-03-21-EN.iso version. Because, I downloaded the first v3.2 release & found out that it was a mistake & boot into default German KDE instead of English. I'm now currently downloading the correcte version 3.2b.

Sigh....still not Audigy support. And OpenOffice is in German. I assume it will be another week or two before Klaus gets the kinks out of this version.

You are right with OpenOffice. I hope that this version get iron out soon, because it is not deemed as a beta release. However Konqueror is now fixed & display AT forums correcty.

I've seen someone change the OSS drivers for soundcards to the ALSA set. Klaus says he won't put ALSA in yet until it's stable.

As for nVidia video cards, currently the drivers are without hardware acceleration. There's a long post in the Knoppix English forums on how to change the drivers to the nVidia ones for full acceleration. I'm not really game enough to try it yet.

And, I have just downloaded the second version of 3-24 yesterday.

What is new/fix with 3-26, is it worth the download time (it will be my 4th download for version 3.2) ?
