Sorry about the accident, but you are with us to tell us about it..
"What doesn't destroy you, makes you stronger".

Wow that's a crazy story! I hope you and your wife make a complete recovery and are able to take that ride with your cousin 🙂

Dude, do yourself a favor and stop riding motorcycles. Speaking as an older ex-motorcycle rider 🙂

I'm hoping that Debi and you recover quickly. Relax and take a look around!

Wow, looks rough, but glad to hear you are okay.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery!

I hope for the best for you and your wife.

I'm kind of surprised no one has called shins... I bet Dave's astonished!

Get better Sr.

Dave, sorry to hear about your accident. Let this be a reminder to wear your gear, regardless of weather, from head to toe, hand to hand & a full face helmet.

Hope you heal quickly.

dude, i'm so sorry to hear this. the whole story sucks 🙁

i can't believe the cop came and gave you a ticket... what a douche.

most importantly, i'm very glad you and your wife are ok. i know we all only know each other through this computer monitor as people we sometimes agree with and sometimes disagree with... we don't really know each other and what goes on in our daily lives... we don't know who each other is on the other end... but i know that if i found out you'd died, i'd feel sad about it. i hope you and your wife have a speedy recovery without complications. the next few weeks are gonna be rough, but hang in there.

you two can go out and get matching tattoos over where you had broken ribs that says something symbolic about that night. my friend got in a motorcycle wreck and was almost paralyzed... broke t5. they said he wouldn't walk again, but he did. he got a tattoo on the level of t5 that says "miracle".

Dave,

Next time where a full face helmet man!! Come on. Think of how much less pain you'd be in. There are two types of riders out there: Ones who have been down, and ones who are going down. Thankfully I am still in the latter, so I never ever even think about riding with out my full face helmet, leather gloves and leather jacket, and full length riding boots. It sucks to carry a back pack around, but I'd rather ride safe then be sorry after.

Speedy recovery and maybe from now on you'll reconsider your riding gear situation.

Yep full gear would totally take away any and all risks. No way you could be smashed by a texting teen driving an suv and your body turned into a pretzel had you been wearing "full" gear.

🙄 did you even read what the guy above you, and what i wrote, about wearing gear? better yet, did you comprehend it?

But he didn't?? He basically low sided and went sliding. That's what gear is there to protect you from. A crash that leaves you painfully road rashed with maybe some minor broken bones could just be maybe a few bruises and sore body parts with full gear. Obviously getting hit by an SUV at speed, the gear isn't really going to prvent MAJOR damage from happening, but at least you are being safe otherwise.

Nope man. 🙄 I've only ridden about 30 different motorcycles since I was a kid riding dirtbikes in a field.. I know exactly how full gear works. Doesn't matter these days. Everyone is so GD distracted with their electronic gadgets. I don't care if you wear a fucking knights jousting armor.. When some distracted housewife is texting all her friends and tbones you at the intersection"full" gear amounts to pissing on a apartment complex fire. I don't care how careful you are if you're heading down the boulevard going 55 and someone just pulls right out in front of you you're fucked.

I guess you missed the part where the bike pinned his wife to the ground probably after cracking a few ribs. 🙄 Why don't you open your eyes before you start your own "I almost died and killed my wife too thread"?

That's the usual outcome when old, fat, stupid people ride motorcycles.

Get well soon my friend.

I wonder why you posted such a stupid mean spirited comment to a seriously injured person.

Anyway, best of luck dave. I don't think you picking out rock out of you face is a good idea and probably increase the chances of infection. Let the nurses do this.

don't go putting words in people's mouths, no one said riding gear can protect you from everything, everyone said dave's injuries would have been seriously reduced if he had even just been wearing a full face helmet. do you dispute that? nobody is talking about distracted soccer moms, there's nothing to indicate that was the problem here*, nobody even brought that up besides you. so i guess your reading comprehension skills aren't up to your claimed riding skills.

*that is, if dave's story is even true at all.

Nope I didn't miss that part. Let's see.. with a leather jacket and full face helmet if that bike lands on you and the hot pipes and engine touch you, you stand a much better chance of not getting seriously burned. With out that stuff... You are pretty boned and in for a world of hurt.

I get what you are saying. There are some situations where all the gear in the universe won't help you. However, that is a very very small % of all motorcycle accidents. Something like 70% of all bike accidents don't involve another vehicle directly in the crash. On top of that a high amount of those are directly due to rider error, happen at night, and involve the person drinking. So that leaves a small fraction of accidents which are happen while you are sober, during the day and is completely not your fault.

I think I will wear my leathers. If you are going to advise people not to, becasue.. "Well fuck it, if you are going to get in an accident, you are screwed anyway" then I would counter that advise with my above statement.

I fully agree with full riding gear if you're gonna be careless enough to ride on the street in the first place. Ever wonder why some motogp riders have no problem racing crotch rockets at nearly 200mph yet won't even ride on the street because it's too dangerous?

No I don't wonder because they are right. They also have tons and tons of experience riding, ass tons of money for the best suspension set up. So ok wait... did you just prove my point?! My word you did. They wear full leathers and a full face in the most safe of environments, so why in the hell would you not on the street?? Thank you, come again.

Most people skimp out on gear since its costly. I bought all my stuff on a biweekly basis before I bought the bike. I'm only missing race boots.

good for you. most people are stupid with money. it's cheap compared to the medical bills. and it's cheap compared to the price of a $10,000 motorcycle. you can outfit yourself just fine with 500-600 worth of gear.
