Debating between several Carry weapons

Greetings all-

I'm currently in the market for a nice small conceal and carry weapon-

I currently own a few guns, and my M9 Compact is still huge and hard to carry-

I've seen other threads concerning a few choices but wanted to revamp this-

Knowing the difference between a .380 and 9mm I'd prefer to keep my ammo pretty standard (Just about all of my other handguns are 9mm) and I would prefer to keep the full size 9mm for a self defense round- although I could be talked into a 380 acp.

Also while I'm fairly well trained with fire-arms I'm still safety concious and always worry about worst case scenario's and would prefer a weapon with firing pin block and external safety.

With all these things in mind I've selected a Taurus 709 slim as my top runner-

Other things I've toyed around with getting
Glock 26
Ruger LCP
Kel-Tec PF-9
Taurus PT-111
Kel-Tec PF-11
Sig 239 (very pricey and would have to wait for a deal)

Anyone's thoughts?
 
Of the models listed, I would go with the PT-111 as a primary carry weapon. While I like the 709, I find it almost too small (and keep in mind I haven't shot one yet). The frame is less than 1" thick, so if you have very large hands that could be an issue for you. I would also like more than 7+1 capacity in a 9mm, just for that warm fuzzy it gives me. The others are good options as well, but having carried a PT-145 for a couple of years now, I am comfortable with the Millenium Pro series.
 
I was just looking through options myself this past weekend and am debating between a Taurus .9mm 380 or 45.

Hands down the 380 is the easiest to conceal and carry.

I want the .45 for the stopping power but the 380 for the size, then like you, I already have a 9mm and ammo would be easier and cheaper for it in that cal.
 
Check out nutnfancy on Youtube. He does VERY thorough reviews on guns.

Off the top of my head, he has reviewed the Sig P239, LCP, PF-9, and Glock 26. Just search for them or use his Playlist "Handguns Reviews by nutnfancy".

That should give you some additional info on them. Also, a Walther PPK would be a great option.

I personally just watched his P239 review and that thing looked way too big and heavy. Honestly up against the P228 I didn't really see the point of making something only slightly smaller and still 30 oz. But I haven't handled it.

From his videos, I guess nutnfancy likes the PF-9 most due to it being 9mm, very lightweight and compact.

Also, where do you live or what neighborhood do you go through that you feel the need for a concealed weapon?
Or is it just the principle?
 
The FNP-9 is a nice 9mm carry pistol. My brother is currently using that one with a crossbreed holster and you can't even tell he's wearing it. It's comfortable as well. I'm currently using a Beretta 92fs, and it's a little on the large side, but very reliable. You'll want at least a 9mm for personal carry, because if some lunatic that is drugged out tries to mug/kill you, you'll want some stopping power. I'm going to move onto a Kimber Ultra Carry II .45 pretty soon.. it's on the pricey side, but it's very concealable, has good stopping power, and it's a high quality piece.

Mainly just Principle...but occasionally for late walks around the neighborhood.

It will be a mousegun no doubt.. going to have to go to the shooting range and play with these.

PF-9 is looking pretty good. Cheap too.

Sig 226 is my choice of a sidearm.

Then get a good one, get a P226.

I see, it's your future, you have a lousy gun and someone who didn't even mean to do you no harm has a proper weapon and shoots you in the chest...

Don't be a twat, don't buy a gun off of recomendations via the internet but all in all, if you do try the P226 that is the one you'll carry, same for everyone. There is a reason why this is the sidearm for all special forces including those who get a choice.

I have an M9 already friend.

I'm not deep carrying a full size..
 
i carry a glock 26. love it to death. add a 15 round mag and grip extension and it's still small enough to easily hide, well balanced, and gives you 15 rounds...

do you realize how "twat-ish" you sound in your post? There's not doubt that the Sig 226 is a good handgun, but its not the only one. It's also a full size handgun too, not easy for concealment.
 
Update:

Played around with the guns (I suppose poor choice of wording)

Decided on the Ruger LCP for a deep conceal gun. It's affordable..meaning that I won't have to wait for a good deal on one. And I can load it with some nasty hydro-shok's that won't over penetrate. (Of course one could worry about UNDER penetrating).

Next when I can afford it will be a Kahr PM9 or Kahr PM40 whichever I find first..I'd prefer the 40 S&W.
