Build 1
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe
2GB (4x512MB)DDR2 800 Buffalo Firestiks (1GB sticks out of stock and wont be in stock till next year)
Giga-Byte GA-965G-DS3
Geforce 8800GTS
Enermax Liberty 500w PSU

Build 2
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe
2GB (4x512MB)DDR2 800 Buffalo Firestiks (1GB sticks out of stock and wont be in stock till next year)
EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR(Nvidia 680 SLi)
Dual Geforce 7900GS
Enermax Liberty 500w PSU

which is better? I have been given so many recommendations based on my budget and the two choices are as stated above. Now if only someone could help me make the final decision.

Build 3 is better:

1. E6400 (overclock the crap out of it)
2. 1 gig firesticks (put another gig in when more games need it). saves 100.00$ now for video upgrade.
3. 680 sli board (top of the line)
4. 8800gts (two 7900gs's =350.oo$, saved money on ram 100.00$) now you can afford this
5 liberty psu.

Same price as build 2 but 25% faster in gaming!

Add memory when it becomes avalable or when YOU need it.

some more thoughts.....

when you come home next christmas..

that 680i board would go great with another 8800gts (probrobly real cheap 300.00$) December 2007. and a qwad core cpu which wiil pop right in that fancy 680i board.
You can allways add ram.

Have a good holiday.

yeah I like your suggestion it is actually the least expensive, and I figured and Artic 7 pro would work nicely as an aftermarket cpu fan

don't waste all your slots with 512 sticks. Thats the point.

Dude, I know you have good airflow in your case but why skimp on the cooler for your super rig....

It's more money but grab a Tuniq tower it's the best out there.
But the artic 7 is good too. It's all up to your budget.

That sucks.

let me think..........

buy different ram and get 1 ,1 gig stick
I'm not great at the ram thing.
ask around the overclocking section if I come up with something I'll let you know.

I just woke up brains in scramble mode.

haha, I am in germany right now so it is 1:30 but I understand the just waking up thing. I love my XMS ram it preforms faster than any other ram I have ever had, but XMS2 ram is expensive out the wazzo, 4GB of XMS2 is almost as much as a 8800GTX, as for the Tuniq I cannot find one anywhere, the closest thing I can find is a Tt Sonic Tower

2 gigs of ram is becomming the new standard but I don't play any games or see any games now that take advantage of it except BF2. I think most people are getting 2 gigs for the upcomming vista operating system, which is a ram hog. Thats why I suggest 1 gig sticks now to upgrade later, It is important. you don't want to use all your slots and have to sell all that ram later on to upgrade.

Ahhhh coffee............

I play quake 4, doom3, HL2, and Oblivion, and soon Never winter nights 2, but gaming isnt the other thing I do, I go to school for IT so I just java and what not, yeah I have vista on my laptop and a gig is almost the bare minimum, Ultimate recommends a minimum of a 512, and for good preformance a gig, but I would recommend 2

no need for XP I have ever version, and I have the final release of Vista, I am not using it because most of my periphrials do not have vista drivers yet, yet, I think 1GB is good right now, I will go with 1 stick of XMS ram if I can and then just purchase another in a few months, if I end up getting a little extra money in the budget I will go for the two gigs right now though, but I am excited now that I can get a Tuniq Tower, I was at a loss cause I could not find one anywhere,I did not know there was an internal fan inside it, it just looks like a heatpipe cooler

Make sure the ram overclocks.. ask for suggestions in cpu and overclocking section......

I have to get ready for work... I'll be back in about ten hours or so

so I just thought of something, if I wait till I return to the states in February I will have more money in my budget and could get the two gigs of ram, the 6600 and possibly a second 8800GTS or 1 8800GTX
