Anyone playing it?
I just picked it up this weekend and logged a hour or so into it. I'm in love. Though I am stcuk at a part.

It's been perfectly described as Diablo meets Monkey Island.
Available on Steam for $15(?)

It's pretty fun, but I'm finding that to do certain quests I am not high enough level or my gear is way behind level.

So I have to grind to get leveled up to a point where I can actually take on the monsters, but even then it seems like they are extra tough. I did find a weapon/armor merchant but to buy 1 piece of armor my level is going to cost like 75% of my money.

I really enjoyed it, beat it last night. I liked it better than the recent Monkey Island games. It's funny without being random and rediculous. The puzzles actually make sense.
I only had trouble with two creatures. One near the end that killed me 3-4 times before I just used all the types potions I had and special attacked until it died. :)
The other was a floating eyeball that one-shotted me because I went too far ahead.
Here's some tips:
Don't worry about "finding" the orphans, they appear in the regular course of play.
Money doesn't mean a whole lot as the game usually gives you better weapons than you can buy, and I had a few million at the end.
"Broken Outhouses" in dungeons aren't warp points, only save points, and they can't be "fixed".
If you get killed easily, you're going somewhere you're not supposed to be. :)
Golden Keys for any chests you may have missed are easily harvested from
Unicorns
late in the game.

Good to know. I'm way at the beginning still.

Question though:
How do I get the anvils down the well? I have two in my inventory. (I know I have to toss them in there to distract the farmer to get the cherries to dye the horns to get across the bridge to the Demon cave)

Answer:
I use an X360 controller. The "Y" button uses an item on the targeted object, and you select the anvil from the inventory to use on the well. Not sure how you do it with a keyboard, sorry. The "Y" button uses an item on an object and the "A" button just interacts with the object.

Yeah I gotta see what the "use" button is I guess.
Haven't had to use that up until now :)

I completed all of the side quests along with the main objectives, so let me know if you have any more questions.

You can also buy a bucket of red paint from an ex-orphan next to the first bridge you cross (she gives you a few quests to gather stuff for potions). And then just use the red paint on the white horns you found.

But yeah, the game is loads of fun! The humor is great. The gameplay is relaxing and fun. Dialogues are cheesy and grotesque. Totally worth the price! Monkey Island meets Diablo pretty much sums it up :)

I had no idea this was brought to PC. Awesome!

Think I'll wait for a sale, though, as I have a few more games to play through...

I've played it for a couple of hours now. Good fun; and I'm glad it came to the PC. :)

nice, glad I came in this thread, this looks like a buy. And local co-op is a huge plus, can get the gf in on this I hope. And controller support.

I picked it up over the weekend as well. I've got a few hours into it now, and I'm onto the second map area. I'm up to level 13 or so, definitely a fun little game.

Shank is next on my list.
Honestly, I seem to find MUCH more enjoyment out of these little $15ish titles released from smaller studios than the big budget releases it seems. Way more heart, more fun, more personality in them it seems. These kinds of titles will be getting more and more of my money than blockbuster releases from here on out.

I very much agree. These type of games have really impressed me with the fun factor, creativity, stories.

Really happy with the accessablity of these games through Steam. It has come so far since it's troubled launch of HL2 and now I wouldn't do without it.

Amnesia: Dark Decent was mainly done by 5 guys and it was able to present an experience that I haven't seen rival'd in gaming in sometime.. perhaps since Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.

Kinda bums me that there's no demo for this game... although I can easily just get the demo on a console, but I'm kinda interested in the PC-based control mechanics. Shank has a demo though.

It also seems that the PC is fairly behind the console as the consoles have a second Deathspank game available.

Question guys, is this game kid friendly? Will 6-8 year-olds (most likely just watching, not necessarily playing) enjoy it and get the jokes? These are kids who laughed their ass off watching me playing Monkey Island games (and sometimes helped solving the puzzles with their 'out of the box' thinking).

I found out that it's rated for Teen but I wonder if it's just because of the cartoon people killing each other or if there's more to it than just that (e.g. mature humor, super dark storyline, etc).

My 7yr old daughter was just watching me play.
The jokes aren't dirty at all. No foul language etc etc.
The dialogue between DeathSpank and the NPCs is pretty damned funny.

control wise it plays just like any other pint and click game. Its much slower paced than a Diablo etc. But the mechanics are all the same

Cronos: I played some more the other night. There was SOME "questionable" language (damn, bastard) in some of the convos. But its not that "angry" if you know what I mean. Its just said in "DeathSpank-esque" tone.

Side note: I think I'm stuck again. I just took care of the monks by the bell for Rich Cabin, and I'm now venturing west towards the ogres. WTH... the Ogres kick my butt in like 1 hit. Driving me mad.

Ogres -> block FTW! :D First time I had to start using it in the game and it worked like a treat!

Started up Thongs of Virtue and played it for a few minutes - the game is still a blast with great dialogues and voice actors! Was laughing my ass off the whole time :D Too bad I don't have time to play it more :(
