Is it possible to die without an explanation how a person died? My nephew died in his sleep at 17yo. He was a straight a student and was accepted at good schools. Just died and autopsy result could not find anything. Strange and still a shock to everyone.

Apologies for the Monty Python reference. I like to bring levity to unhappy occasions... it's how I roll. 😉

On a serious note, you and your family have my deepest sympathy.

Sorry to hear that. It happens. My aunt died and I don't think the doctors really knew why, though they may not have checked too hard as she was older and generally unhealthy (overweight & smoked).

Well, obviously it's possible given that you've cited an example...

Sorry to hear. I'm guessing it is probably a really uncommon and sudden thing that is also rather complex and not well understood. Perhaps the head moved a certain way and it dislocated the spine enough to squish vital nerves that triggered something else like the heart to stop, but then it popped back, or something weird like that. It would have to be something that "reverts" leaving no evidence. I'm sure the doctors must have some speculations, but probably not strong enough to make an official statement.

Did they even mention any possibilities, or ask any leading questions, such as if he had allergies or something?

Sorry for your loss.

Often people die due to cardiac arrythmias. The heart rhythm get caught up in a loop, this can be deadly, and may leave no traces on autopsy. Given his age, a likely disorder may be Wolff-Parkinson-White

It may be recommended that other family members be checked. It can usually be picked up on a routine Electrocardiogram.

Thanks for the condolence. Still in shock as to what happened. Can't think straight right now. Preliminary report says everything is healthy. Just like that he is gone and a bright kid too. The reason I post is I am so overwhelmed by this that I don't how to begin a search at google so I was trying to see if anyone maybe has this experience. The doc asked for meds he was taking or any allergies but no meds and allergies I know of.

I heard of the syndrome being throw by the doctor but didn't really quite understand what he was saying. Thanks for that wolf-parkinson-white syndrome I will look into it.

Just couldn't believe anyone can die without a reason. Man life is really short and hug your kids.

The way I understand these things, the results of toxicology test take a while to come back.

A good friend of mine died when he was 16 years old. Through the funeral everyone said it was an undiagnosed heart condition, later through his so-called 'friends' in the new town he had moved to we found out that he had overdosed on methadone.

When it comes to death you never know if you are getting the full story.
