Vorlons or The Shadows can rip the Borg apart. B5 Rules all!

I'm a starwars fan though. I like star trek, but its usually the same plot everyday, and gets boring fast.

Hey......... how about the Wavemotion Gun on the Battle Cruiser Yamato (from the 70's Starblazers Japanese anime series) ???

Now that gun kicks ass

Hmmm

The DS main weapon would never be used because the BC is far too mobile. The borg would see the power buildup and dodge before being hit.

But the DS contains it's own fleet.
A BC wiped out nearly all the federation fleet in short order.
An interesting test would be to ram the BC with a star destroyer at full speed, maybe several at once, Vader would do that if he thought would work.

If the Borg wished they would simply close to transporter range and disable the DS's power system by bording the DS and assimilate the crew piecemeal. The lasers of the DS crew would have no effect on the drones.

Overall, heavy advantage to the Borg.

Borg cube materialises.

Death Star powers up planet-destroying cannon.

Borg react with Collective speed (for them, parallel action is nearly simultaneous with thought; infinitesimal communication delay between drones, information is available to all almost simultaneously and task division proceeds accordingly), take less than a second to scan cannon power buildup and, instead of beaming drones to look at it, find it more efficient to beam the power source to their cube for examination while another part of the Collective issues the standard ass laminating message.

One second after Cube appearance, planet-destroying laser cannon fizzles.

Borg start slicing and assimilating Death Star. Thousands of storm troopers are blown into space. Lord Vader escapes once again in a spinning screaming fighter while other fighters and gun emplacements become Borg target practice.

Two things to remember:

-- The Borg transporter has a range of several hundred thousand kilometers and works both ways.

-- They react with collective speed, have the brain power of distributed computing and always choose the most efficient solution.

BTW, Borg cubes are known to have flown through the corona of a Sol class star. I doubt very much that a superlaser could dent their shields. While it may blow a planet, it is only phased concentrated light after all. :)

<< shut the hell up. star trek is fake you know. and the death star came before the stupid borg cubical. >>

Yes...star wars is real and star trek is fake. LOL.

Anyway, back to the original question, anyone with any sense knows the Cube would slaughter the Death Star quickly. The only two things the Star has going for it are the big gun and it's limited weakness (although considering Borg technology, it could probably kill it with it's weapons despite the weakness). The Cube, which is extremely manueverable, could either dodge the gun, or when it sees it charging up, move away from it, or perhaps fire a shot at the gun and cause it to either backfire or not fire at all. As for the weakness, they could easily scan the ship in moments and the collective mind working together could easily find that weakness, along with probably many others, and in seconds the Death Star would be a pile of raw materials floating in space, waiting to be assimilated by the Borg.

Case closed.

If the Death Star got a shot off, the Borg would be toast (I'm sorry, but all that crap about Star Trek shields being "invulnerable" to lasers is Hollywood technobabble bullsh!t...what the hell do you think phasers are but a fancy term for concentrated energy emissions...yes, I used to be a big ST fan, and I've read all the technical manuals...)

But, when you factor in the Borg's quick decisions, assimilation ability, and the incompetence of Imperial commanders and storm troopers, the Borg would win in the long run.

Now the real question is the Vorlon Planet Killer vs. the Borg Cube...the Vorlons would rip the Borg a new a$$hole. :)

The force people, use the force. Hehe, Vader or the Emporer or someone could just take down all the borg one by one by disconnecting them from the collective or messing with the queen's mind or something. And I doubt Borg can adapt to lightsabers... but who knows.

but why does the trek universe have absolutely no use for them:p We have lasers now, not phasers so apparently they became obsolete.

Sohcan,

I hate to tell you this but phasers are based on the transducer technology and therefore make use of subspace emissions. That's what makes a phaser blast so much more potent than a simple laser blast. The shields also works the same way, dissipating energy into subspace. As for the Vorlon planet killer, like the Death Star, it has mucho firepower and a glass chin, à la Tyson. That's why it's surrounded by a fleet of Vorlon cruisers and fighter escorts in each Vorlon task force. Remember, it only took 3 shots by the First Ones vessels to blast it to smithereens.

You can equate the Death Star and the Vorlon planet killer with the Gerald Bull designed Iraki "Fist Of God" supergun, La Grosse Bertha (the WWI 420mm superhowitzer used to batter the Belgian forts at Liège and Namur), the French 520mm obusier, the various 21-31cm railway guns, the seven Paris guns and the 800mm siege gun used by the Nazis at the siege of Sebastopol. Such siege artillery is potent against fixed targets like planets and fortifications but it is also a sitting duck.

For people who like big frigging guns, check this site on WWI artillery.

<< Gimme a Vogon Constructor fleet any day >>

I´d have to agree to that, no Vorlon, Borg or Dark Force could beat a Vogon Construction fleet.

Clearly, Galactus of Borg has won this debate. BTW, you guys are a bunch of geeks.

One fun fight to watch would be the Death Star vs Q! Tennis anyone? :)

At least we might finally get Q to admit that the origin of The Force lies in the fact that one day he had too many Continuum beans and let go a stinker. :Q
